That’s why St. Lucie Public Schools (SLPS) proudly supports the summer meals programs for kids eighteen and under. According to SLPS Director of Child Nutrition Services Deborah Wuest, “Children who are eligible to receive free meals will find open sites on many school campuses. Take Part in St. Lucie County’s Summer Youth Reading Challenge FORT PIERCE – The St. Lucie County Library System is excited to announce its 2016 Summer Reading Challenge: “On Your Mark, Get Set…Read!” The challenge runs Saturday, May 28 through Saturday, August 6. The library challenges every youth (grades K-5) in St. Lucie County to read at least 12 books or for 12 hours this summer. Summer School Graduation

Summer school graduates crossed the stage to receive their diplomas on Wednesday, July 13, 2016. Parents, family members, friends, and school officials were in attendance to support the students as they achieved this major milestone.  Congratulations to our graduates!

ST. LUCIE COUNTY – The St. Lucie County Library System’s Summer Reading Challenge returns offering families a new digital online tracking system. The Summer Reading Blast Off Challenge runs June 1 through Aug. 3 offering students a chance to win a free Kindle Fire (one will be given out at each of the seven branch libraries), as well as tickets to a St. Lucie Mets baseball game or an all-day pass to St. Lucie County Pools or the St. Lucie County Aquarium. Summer Reading Adventures at White City Elementary – June 11 – July 30

June 11th was the grand opening of the White City Elementary Media Center Summer Program.  White City students are encouraged to stop by to check out books and participate in the weekly themed activities.  Deisy Baza and Marissa Thurman learned about fireflies.  After listening to the story of Moongirl by Henry Selick, they enjoyed creating a sequel to the book.  Themes for the summer include, fireflies, butterflies, dragonflies, bats and more.  Several WCE teacher are volunteering their time as guest readers, and lending a helping hand with the activities.
