Fort Pierce Westwood High School Raiders’ Victory

Cadet Diana Soto was recently awarded the “Pushed to My Max” Award for displaying exceptional physical courage during the 5k Team Run at the Port St. Lucie JROTC Raider meet last weekend. Diana is a member of the Elite Westwood Raider Team. She was congratulated in front of her JROTC class by her instructor, CSM Federico Dottin, and Westwood Raider Team Co-Captains Brandon Payen and Nathan Andrews. Fort Pierce Westwood High School culinary arts students prepared and served a holiday themed hot buffet lunch to school and district leaders recently at the district offices. The lunch was sponsored by St. Lucie Education Foundation executive director Jim McKenzie, who was pleased with the quality of the meal and service. Chef Maureen Greenberg assisted the students who cooked, baked, transported, plated, served, decorated, and cleared the lunch. Youth Art Month is a celebration of the Visual Arts that showcases the creativity of our youth.  During the month of March, we direct attention to the value of art education for teaching students critical thinking skills. Fort Pierce Westwood Academy Took 2nd in the State at the West Coast Ocean Bowl

Five students woke up at 3am and sacrificed their Valentines Day Saturday to travel and conquer the West Coast Ocean Bowl, dubbed the Spoonbill Bowl.  It has been five years since we last took 1st and 2nd place on the East Coast. Jaella Jones, Mariana Ruppert, William Hussey, Ava Mendoza, and Team Captain Roslyn Tran went UNDEFEATED for 9 rounds to earn a spot in the finals.  In the end, Fort Pierce Westwood placed 2ND in the STATE to bring home a trophy, medals, and cash prizes. Middle school students from St. Lucie Public Schools attended a virtual field trip for Criminal Justice without leaving their campus. The virtual field trip was hosted by Ms. Mildred Brown and the Career & Technical Education department on the campus of Fort Pierce Westwood Academy: The WEST Prep Magnet. The virtual field trip included a demonstration of crime scene investigation, fingerprinting, and the 911 Telecommunications training. Virtual field trips allow middle school students to explore CTE programs for career exploration initiatives.

The 5th Annual Sunshine Kitchen Competition brought together culinary talent from across St. Lucie County, pairing high school seniors with first-year IRSC culinary students in a sizzling showdown.
