ECET2 – Grow, Collaborate, Lead

The second annual ECET2 conference was brought to educational professionals in St. Lucie County via a partnership with St. Lucie Public Schools and the Gates Foundation. ECET2 stands for Elevating and Celebrating Effective Teaching and Teachers. Event organizers explained that this year’s theme entitled Teachers Are Innovators: Grow, Collaborate, Lead blossomed from the positive feedback received from last year’s event in which participants were catapulted into deeper collaborative efforts through their opportunities to network and build professional relationships with like-minded educators.

Mariposa Elementary Celebrates Young Authors

During the months of April and May, Mariposa students have been writing and publishing their own books as a part of the annual celebration of writers — Young Authors. Students from grades kindergarten to fifth wrote, illustrated, edited, and published original stories. These books were shared and celebrated through several classroom and school-wide activities. Four writers were chosen to represent Mariposa at the Young Authors Celebration. Lincoln Park Academy’s FHSAA State Track Champion!!!

FHSAA State Champion!! On Friday May 6th, Caleb Pottorff of Lincoln Park Academy won the 3200 meter run at the State Championship event  in Bradenton. On Saturday May 7th, Caleb also ran the 1600 meter run and finished second. Congratulations to Caleb and his coaches for becoming a State Champion.

Friends and Trustees of the Rupert J. Smith Law Library Celebrate Law Day 2016

The 2016 Law Day Art Contest was open to all St. Lucie County students. The theme, Miranda: More than Words,  encouraged students to explore the protections afforded to all by the U.S. Constitution, learn how these rights are protected by the courts, and determine why they are essential to our liberty. This commemorated the 50th anniversary of the case, Miranda vs. Arizona. Students discussed the Supreme Court case and the importance of the Miranda Warning. REE Feels the Love Producing Lion King Kids

BRAVO to Mrs. Martinkovic, REE’s Music Teacher, and the entire cast and crew of The Lion King Kids production!!! Everyone did an amazing job. You could feel the love and outright fun they were having!!! The Eagles Nest Preschool is the recipient of $1000 grant awarded by Wells Fargo Bank. Wells Fargo’s Community Connection Grant Program is an annual program where each of the company’s retail banking stores and Business Banking teams explore the needs of their local communities and select a nonprofit organization or school to receive a $1,000 grant.  This year, Wells Fargo will award more than $600,000 in grants to 600-plus nonprofit organizations and schools throughout Florida. Students’ Project Develops and Takes Flight

FORT PIERCE, FL – Students in Mrs. Brandifino’s pre-kindergarten class at Lawnwood Elementary delighted in releasing butterflies into the school’s butterfly garden.  As a springboard for their unit of study, the young scholars learned about the animals’ development and nutritional needs as they morphed from egg, to larva, to pupa, to graceful adult butterfly.  Students clapped and cheered as the butterflies made their way from the butterfly cage to settle on nearby flowers and trees. Academic Team Competes In State Competition

ST. LUCIE COUNTY – St. Lucie Public Schools (SLPS) Academic Challenge Team was quick on the buzzer and correct when answering questions that would stump most individuals.  With a strong showing in the preliminary rounds of the 31st Annual Commissioner’s Academic Challenge competition, SLPS’s team qualified for the semi-final rounds and finished fifth overall in their division.  Teams from across Florida gathered at the Grand Floridian Resort at Walt Disney World for this annual academic statewide event.
