Representatives from Florida Institute of Technology’s Lunabotics team recently visited Southern Oaks Middle School to meet with the students whose team took fifth place last spring among 50 international teams competing in the fourth annual NASA Lunabotics Mining competition. The team came to Southern Oaks and put on three presentations: the first session involved dissecting an edible asteroid, where students looked at all the layers and were then able to eat it; next session, students were given characteristics of  a creature and based on those characteristics they then had to draw what it looked like; and last, students were shown the robot that was used … Read More

The Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) has announced the new members of the 2024-2025 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). This year, the FHSAA will be welcoming in nine new students into the committee, along with seven returning members. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) was established in 2008. The committee serves as a critical link in identifying topics, issues, and concerns that face the student-athletes of the State of Florida. Congratulations to Lincoln Park Academy Senior Callie Zheng!  She has been selected as a semi-finalist in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program. She is one of 16,000 seniors selected nationwide to compete for 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million.

We are so excited to share that LPA’s own, Mia Morrison, was selected as the 2023 Saint Lucie County Youth of the Year for Boys & Girls Clubs of Saint Lucie County and the 2023 Florida State Youth of the Year for the Boys & Girls Clubs for the second year in a row!  Mia is the first youth to garner these distinguished wins in succession.  Congratulations on doing a stellar job!    

The annual Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida Cheribundi Boca Raton Bowl played at FAU stadium in Boca Raton hosts a fantastic art contest in partnership with Palm Beach and St. Lucie Public Schools.  Lincoln Park Academy Junior, Sandy Gamez, had her art work selected as best in the district at the high school level.  The competition asked students to depict the connection between “health and football” in a small work of art.  Mr. McGraw explained, “Ms. Gamez considered different contexts of football and health issues while composing her work and chose to render her picture in black and white … Read More

On Tuesday, October 29, Lincoln Park Academy’s National Junior Honor Society contributed 138 cans of Chef Boyardee to The Giving Concert in honor of Grace Packs.  LPA teacher and NJHS adviser, Dr. Rennaker, asked the members to contribute cans to help Grace Packs accumulate food.  Grace Packs is best known for sending backpacks of food and snacks home, with eligible elementary and middle school students, on Fridays.  9th grade LPA students, Olivia Costa and Victoria Townsel, volunteered to pack up the boxes and deliver them to the auditorium.  These members are also working on two contests: club t-shirt design and … Read More

NHS attended its first Adopt a Road for this school year. Our members enjoy helping to keep our community clean and safe.

The ‘YMEDACA’ LPA National Honor Society has completed yet another successful road-cleaning! Every early dismissal of every month NHS heads on over to Midway Road to participate in these cleanups. This is the 7th cleanup of the year with 3 more to go. NHS has been doing this for many years, which demonstrates their commitment to keeping Fort Pierce beautiful and clean. They do this in conjunction with volunteering at the Treasure Coast Foodbank every other Thursday, to help the less fortunate by organizing and distributing food around our community. The event was filled with festive cheer as our students showcased their spirit and commitment to community service. Lincoln Park Academy’s Class of 2018 is committed to graduating! On October 26th, LPA juniors participated in their annual C2G ceremony to reaffirm their commitment to graduation. All 218 students shook principal Henry Sanabria’s hand to show their commitment to working hard, coming to school everyday, and finishing high school strong. Students also received a keychain tassel to remind them that “the tassel is worth the hassle!”              

Lincoln Park Academy’s International Baccalaureate (IB) students from grades 9–12 gathered enthusiastically for the annual IB Welcome Breakfast, celebrating the start of a new academic year. The event fostered community and connection across grade levels, with introductions of key IB program leaders and the dedicated IB Student Committee officers. Students were reminded of the exciting upcoming class trips to Washington, D.C. and Japan. The breakfast served as a warm, welcoming space for students to build relationships and feel supported in their academic journey. Congratulations to the LPA Cross Country teams and Coach Adams and Coach Moore, who competed in District Competition this weekend in Fort Myers. The LPA girls placed 6th out of 18 teams and will advance to the Class 2A Region 3 Championships this Thursday. Jacey Lane placed an impressive 9th place overall to lead the girls.  

College Board has granted national recognition to several of  Lincoln Park Academy’s High School students.  These students are being recognized because of their high grade point averages of 3.5 or higher and outstanding performance on the PSAT/NMSQT and or Advanced Placement Exams. Lincoln Park Academy’s dedicated yearbook staff work diligently to help organize school picture day. The entire staff started the year strong working all morning during their class time alongside the photographers to ensure a successful fall picture day. Several dual-enrollment students, staffers, and volunteers dedicated their entire day to the success. Thanks to Ms. King and her amazing yearbook staff, picture day went smoother than expected for everyone.        

Lincoln Park Academy, for the first time ever, has a wrestling program. On December 22, the Greyhounds took 1st place at the Battle on the Lake tournament hosted by Okeechobee High School. Two LPA wrestlers at the tournament were Rakan and Rayan Abulathou. The brother duo pinned every wrestler they faced. Congratulations to Coach Pryor and all of our Greyhound wrestlers.

Lincoln Park Academy’s IB Student Committee delivered gifts to C.A. Moore’s Kindergarten and 1st-grade students through the Winter Wishes program. LPA students, staff, and families donated over 100 gifts to C.A. Moore. On the day, IB students visited C.A. Moore dressed as Santa and his elves, spending time in each classroom, playing games and opening presents. They took time to spread Christmas cheer and warmth.
