Palm Pointe Jazz Band Receives Superior Rating

Congratulations to the Palm Pointe Jazz Band on their Superior performance at the Florida Bandmasters Association District 13 Music Performance Assessment. They were the only Middle School Band to achieve this honor! We are so proud of them and their conductor, Mr. Jason Hatfield!

Palm Pointe Jazz Band Hosts Ukrainian Sax Player Andrey Chmut

Palm Pointe Jazz Band recently hosted Ukrainian Sax Player Andre Chmut for a musical cultural exchange. During this event, he was able to share his experiences as a refugee and also how he became a professional musician. He also played live music from his new album. The students enjoyed asking questions and jamming with him on their jazz songs as well. Many thanks to Victory musical instruments for facilitating this awesome experience for the students.

Palm Pointe Jazz Band creates “Jazz -O- Lanterns”

Students in the Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition Jazz Band recently spent their afternoon jazz period carving out musical pumpkins in their second annual Jazz O Lantern carving competition. Palm Pointe Hosts Pancakes and Pizza with the Principal

Palm Pointe was thrilled to welcome students, parents, and families to our Meet and Greet sessions with the Principal. Palm Pointe hosts a clarinet clinic

Recently at Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition a clinic was hosted for clarinet players in the four county area.  The evening was sponsored by Music Man Instrument Company and included master classes as well as give aways.  Students were able to gain experience by listening to two clinicians as well as picking up technique hints that were offered.  Way to go Rockets!

Palm Pointe has Literacy Week door decorating contest

During Literacy Week at Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition grades four, six, seven and eight competed in a door decorating contest.  The fourth grade classes did a Book Study as a guide for decorating their doors and the middle school classes used an Author Study for their doors.  Pictured here is the door decorating winner for Harry Potter as a Book Study from Ashley Rich’s fourth grade class.  Excellent!

Palm Pointe Guidance Counselor in Tallahassee

Palm Pointe Educational Research School at Tradition’s elementary school counselor, Summer Kuba, organized a “Day on the Hill” in Tallahassee where school counselors across the state met with legislators to educate them on the impact school counseling services have on student academic and social emotional development, college and career readiness, and overall lifelong success.  Pictured second from the left in the front row is Summer Kuba.

Palm Pointe guests join the morning news show

Kailey Alford and Jasmine Choung, first grade students at Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition were guest weathermen (women) on the Morning Show which airs each morning at the school.  The girls earned the privilege by turning in their earned rocket fuel which is a positive behavior support (PBS) program used at the school.  Keep up the great work girls!  

Palm Pointe Garden in Full Bloom

The garden is in full bloom at Palm Pointe. Students in Ms. Petrino’s, Mrs. Austin’s, and Mrs. Wamble’s special education classes, grades K-8, planted seeds at the start of the school year. The garden is a student-centered garden, taken care of by the students with support from teachers. Students apply science skills, occupational skills, writing, researching, and life skills through the hands-on activities in the garden. Palm Pointe fourth highest in the state for American Heart Association

Palm Pointe Educatioinal Research School at Tradition has learned the school has the fourth highest combined fund raising total in the sstate for schools hosting both a Jump Rope for Heart event and a Hoops for Heart event. The school has raised approximately $14,000 over the past two years for the American Heart Association through the school’s two events as was highlighted in the most recent issue of the Florida Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Dance and sport journal.Robert Santoro, Kristen Stafford, and Dale Francis, Physical Education teachers at the school, coordinate the events. Palm Pointe fourth graders learn about melodic notation

Fourth grade students at Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition learn to write their own melodies and then play them on their recorders! Christine Hill, music director, helped her students create a rhythm and then put the melodic pitches to them. The last step was to put the whole melody on the musical staff. Pictured, from left, are Breana Lamothe, Noah James, Alexandra Sessa and Harlem Lilly.

Palm Pointe “Fishbowl” Activity

Team leaders and department chairs at Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition are participating in a “fishbowl” activity. Fourth grade teachers shared recent test results on the Summative Assessment Reporting form and modeled the process of analyzing data. They discussed root causes of proficiency and non-proficiency and worked to create a plan of action for student success.

Palm Pointe First Graders Visit with Klutch

First Graders at Palm Pointe had the pleasure of hosting special visitors from the St. Lucie Mets—Mr. Traer Van Allen and their mascot, Klutch. They shared with our students how the St. Lucie Mets actively contribute to our community by supporting various local organizations. It was a great opportunity for the students to learn about the positive impact sports teams can have beyond the field.

Palm Pointe first graders spend the day as scientists

First grade students at Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition enjoyed a Super Science Day with the help of the Manatee Center. Students were able to wear lab coats as they did experiments. They created their own lava lamps by putting an Alka-Seltzer tablet in oil and water and the water bubbled up through the oil, and made “flubber.” The students were excited to take the things that they made in class home to show their families. 

Palm Pointe First-Graders Moving with Math

Mrs. Migliore’s first-grade class at Palm Pointe took advantage of the beautiful Florida weather! They used their knowledge of 2 digit numbers to plot them on an empty number line. This led to great discussions on comparing numbers and using terms like greater than and less than! What a great day!!

Palm Pointe First Grader’s Learn About the Sheriff’s Office

First graders at Palm Pointe had a fantastic information session with the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, organized by the School Resource Deputies, including SWAT team members, Intel Unit, and SRD K-9 with demonstrations. A huge thank you to everyone that made this a special day and to our SRO officers that work daily to invest in the lives of our students. 

Palm Pointe first graders learn about friendship

Palm Pointe First Graders Get Wild

It’s wild out there! First-grade students met St. Lucie’s backyard wildlife. They compared local native, exotic, and invasive animals and learned how they behave in ecosystems. Are they friends or foes? The Oxbow Ambassador also brought an assortment of taxidermy, bones, and pelts for investigation. The students enjoyed the Oxbow Eco-Center bringing the field trip to us and had so much fun making a few new animal friends!
