Port St Lucie High School Teachers Visit Indian River State College Lab

Bruce Gardner, Building Construction Technology Instructor and John Picchiarini, Technical Design Instructor visited Professor Dean Zirwas’ lab at the IRSC Kight Center for Emerging Technology.  Discussions centered on the CNC machine setup, troubleshooting, software applications, procedures, projects, and materials.  Mr Gardner’s Port St Lucie High Building Construction Trades Preapprenticeship Program recently purchased their own CNC machine giving students access and practice to these real-world job skills.

Port St. Lucie High School Students Tour GL Homes at Valencia Cay

Students in the Carpentry and Drafting Programs at Port St. Lucie High School were provided an overview of constructing a home from land prep to closing. The students were educated by Joe Stein and Richard Bukowski, both construction managers from GL Homes. Joel Dramis, Building Code Administrator for the City of Port St Lucie, provided expertise on the permitting process while Jim Brann of the Porch Factory talked about the traits he desires in employees, as well as scholarships provided by the Treasure Coast Business Association.  

Port St. Lucie High School Students Test Paper Airplanes in Science!

Mr. Archer’s Environmental Science students worked collaboratively in groups to create designs for paper airplanes and then tested their designs using different weighted paper. All students were engaged and taking on an active role in the learning process, as each student had an assigned role in the experiment (e.g. one launched the plane during each trial, another measured the distance, several recorded data, etc.). A FUN time was had by all of our students!

Port St. Lucie High School Students Race 3D Printed Cars

Faculty, staff, students and invited guests were witnesses to an event dubbed the CO2 Races at Port St. Lucie High School. Students in Mr. John Picchiarini’s class designed the cars using AutoCAD 2018. The designs were then 3D printed on site. Two by two, the cars were lined up at the starting line and powered along fishing lines by CO2 cartridges.

Port St. Lucie High School Students Open “Student Perks” Coffee Shop

Port St. Lucie High’s exceptional students opened the “Student Perks” Coffee Shop at Port St. Lucie City Hall this week. Students worked hard on their customer service skills and were complimented by the very hungry city hall employees on their outstanding job at running the coffee shop. Students were supported by paraprofessional, Mrs. DiMeo in their new venture!

On Monday, 9/11, SLCSO Deputy Milton Rosario addressed students at Port St. Lucie High School during a 9/11 presentation that highlighted his experience working as an NYPD police officer that day. Port St. Lucie High School Students Earn Academic Honors from College Board

Congrats to the 2023 @CollegeBoard’s National Recognition Program awardees! The honor recognizes their academic excellence and hard work in high school, and that’s a cause for celebration.  Four students at Port St. Lucie High School earned academic honors from @CollegeBoard’s National Recognition Programs. The award is an easy way to showcase their hard work with colleges. Congratulations to Rose-Berlandy Bonne Annee, Ava Johnson, Nathanael Lalanne, and Gabrianna Peterkin!

Port St. Lucie High School Students Build a Garden

Mrs. Smith and her AMAZING students got down in the dirt and built some amazing, raised-bed gardens.  The gardens will help the students as they prepare for their future – learning to cultivate and grow, as well as food prep and cooking.  Any overage of materials will be donated to the Jaguars Helping Hands Food Pantry.  

Port St. Lucie High School Students Attend Career Connect Conference

Students at PSLHS attended the Career Connect Conference today sponsored by CareerSource Research Coast where they were connected with businesses and education advisors from our Tri-County area (Indian River, St. Lucie & Martin). Thank you Mrs. Shepherd, Ms. Adams, Ms. Nemo, Ms. Brooks, Mrs. Derry, Mr. Anton, and Mrs. Griffin for attending, coordinating, and chaperoning our students on this AWESOME trip!

Port St. Lucie High School Students Are Building Their Future

Mr. Slover and our Building Construction Technologies students recently attended the Future Builders of America (FBA) Leadership Summit at Circle F Dude Ranch in Lake Wales, Florida. During this exciting 3½-day event, students from across the state learned hands-on skills from industry leaders and trades professionals in 12 different trades. Beyond the trades, students also gained valuable experience in business marketing, interviewing, teamwork, leadership, and relationship-building — all while creating lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories. PSLHS Spirit Mural Donated to Jaguars

Thanks to the generous donation of an alumni, the Port St. Lucie High School Jaguars have a lot to cheer about as homecoming week festivities kick off on Monday, October 10.    A supersize spirit mural featuring the Jaguar mascot in an 18’ x 144.5’ display will send a roar of school pride across the campus in a ceremonial unveiling on October 14 at 6:55 pm before the homecoming game crowd. Port St. Lucie High School Shines

On Saturday, September 28th, 2024, the Port St. Lucie High School JROTC Jaguar Battalion conducted their first car wash of the school year at O’Reilly’s, located off US-1. Cadets were placed in different stations, such as the washing, drying, and sign–holding stations. Overall, the cadets were able to work as a team to showcase their leadership skills as they completed their tasks.

On Saturday May 23, 2019, Port St. Lucie High School JROTC Jaguar Battalion’s Color Guard Team presented the colors at the Fenn Center for the Class of 2019 Senior Graduation. Seniors were excited to graduate and start their lives outside of high school. During the color guard the Port St. Lucie High School Chorus sang the National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance. Port St. Lucie High School Scores 1st Place Overall at Forest Hill Drill Meet

On January 31st, the Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion Drill Team traveled to Forest Hill Community High School to compete against eight other schools. The Jaguars delivered an outstanding performance across multiple categories, ultimately securing 1st Place Overall. The team’s success was highlighted by strong results in both the male and female divisions. The Male Armed Squad earned 2nd Place, the Male Color Guard secured 3rd Place, and the Individual Exhibition finished 3rd. On Saturday, November 21st, 2020, the Jaguar Battalion hosted a Raider meet at Port Saint Lucie High School. Each school that participated in the raider meet participated as one whole team to represent their school in the following events: Relay Race, Tire Roll, Capture the Guide-on, Kickball, Dodgeball, and Tug of War. Port St. Lucie High School Qualifies for States!!!

The Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion attended the Area 3 Regional State Qualifying Raider Meet at Camp Tanah Keeta. The event was hosted by Jupiter High School, on October 29, for the right to represent Area 3 in the State Meet. The raider competition consisted of 5 events: a 2.2-mile team run, 1-mile litter carry, 35-pound kettlebell carry, tire flip, and constructing and crossing a rope bridge. Port St. Lucie High School Off to a Quick Start!

On Friday, August 17th at 7 PM, the Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion assisted the first varsity football game of the season. The new cadets who signed up were eager to help and see what these honor guards had to offer for them. The cadets collected parking fees and donations as well as directed the guests into the parking lots. The cadets enjoyed themselves, got to know each other, and observed each other’s leadership skills shine through.
