Port St. Lucie High team wins staff intramural competition

The co-ed staff volleyball team from Port St. Lucie High School was recognized at the April 23, 2013, St. Lucie County School Board meeting as the winning team in the districtwide intramural competition sponsored by Wellness Coordinator Carlye Fabrikant. Port St. Lucie High students sweep regional career skills competition

Port St. Lucie High School recently hosted the Region III Skills USA carpentry competition, in which three students from Port St. Lucie High School took top honors. Cody Gosa won first place, Diamond Salazar finished second, and Christian Nowacki completed the sweep for the Jaguars with a third place finish.  Cody, who is a senior, will represent the region at the state competition next month.  Skills USA is a national nonprofit organization serving teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations. Port St. Lucie High students study animal evolutionary adaptations

Biology students from Port Saint Lucie High School recently visited the Brevard Zoo to expand their Florida history and evolution curriculum.  Students started the morning with a presentation on Florida’s fossil past and then spent the rest of the day exploring different evolutionary adaptations animals have that allows them to be successful in their environments.  Comparisons of different biomes and animals that occupy them were embedded in the day. For many students, this was their first trip to a zoo.

Port St. Lucie High students explore the Everglades

Students from several science classes at Port Saint Lucie High School recently ventured into the Everglades to explore this fragile ecosystem and learn about the history of Florida’s water flow and its effects on native flora and fauna.  Students began the morning with an airboat tour through the river of grass and concluded with lectures and exhibits on the Florida alligator, panther, a variety of turtle species and many others.

Port St. Lucie High School honored its graduating seniors at the recent Senior Scholarship Night event. Collectively, the graduating Jaguars earned over $2,971,934 dollars in scholarships from colleges and universities. Port St. Lucie High School’s Technical Design Students Meet Architects

Students in Mr. Picchiarini’s Technical Design class met Guest Speaker, Carlos Luis Flores Blancaneaux RA, Project Manager at Spiezle Architectural Group, Inc. The students were engaged in seeing designs turn into buildings. Aline Mar, Architectural Designer at Spiezle Architectural Group, Inc. is an alumnus of Treasure Coast High School and spoke about courses to take, the challenges of the job, studying overseas, and loving architecture.    

Port St Lucie High School’s Skilled Trades Advisory Board Meeting Goes Virtual

Port St Lucie High School’s Skilled Trades Advisory Board Meetings are now being held virtually. Teachers, school administrators, guidance counselors, district support personnel, and representatives from the Treasure Coast Builders Association met via Microsoft Teams on October 19, 2020 to continue the important collaboration between the St Lucie County School District and industry. The goal remains to ensure our Career and Technical Education students are college and career ready upon graduation.

Port St. Lucie High School’s Second Game of the Season!

Port St. Lucie High School had its second game of the season at 7pm, Friday night on August 24, 2018. Our Cadets set out for the parking lots around 5pm to collect fees and welcome our guests. Our Jaguar Battalion’s JROTC Color Guard kicked off the night with the presentation of the colors commanded by Sergeant First Class Lawrence Moleon-Mathews, with Sergeant Justin Bennett as the state flag, Corporal Alex Nangle as state guard, and Sergeant Justin Locklar as national guard. Port St. Lucie High School’s Building Construction Technologies Students Design and Build a Room

Constructing the small room helped students in the Building Construction Technologies program at Port St. Lucie High School marry the theoretical to the practical. After learning about safety and the names and proper use of tools, students go on to learn the basics of framing, electrical, drywall installation, repair, and finishing in residential buildings. Students are also introduced to the basics of plumbing and HVAC.

Port St. Lucie High School’s Blood Drive

On Wednesday, September 8th, Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion conducted their first Blood Drive of the year. The Blood Drive ran smoothly, and we are thankful to have had the opportunity to benefit the community. Thanks to the JROTC Cadets, faculty, and members of OneBlood, we were able to donate enough blood to save over 150+ lives.

Port St. Lucie High School’s 2021 Graduation May 27, 2021 395 students graduated as members of the class of 2021 from Port St. Lucie High School.   The 2021 Graduating Class at Port St. Lucie High School earned over $3,000,000 in scholarships.   16 Graduates have enlisted to serve our country in the armed forces.   20 Graduates also earned their A.A.
