Oak Hammock K‑8 proudly participated in this year’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade, showcasing our school spirit, student leadership, and commitment to honoring Dr. King’s legacy of service and unity.
Our Operation Osprey students—an Air Force–based citizenship program sponsored by Ms. Bozzo—represented Oak Hammock with excellence as they carried the United States Flag and our school banner throughout the parade route. These student leaders also played a key role behind the scenes, assisting with the creative decoration of the school’s parade float.
The float itself was a true labor of love. Ms. Miller‑Grant, Mr. Franzese, Ms. Bozzo, and Ms. Valente worked collaboratively to design, build, and decorate a vibrant display that highlighted both school pride and the theme of this year’s parade: Don’t Give Up on the Dream. Their dedication ensured that Oak Hammock K‑8 stood out as a strong presence in the parade.
Adding to the excitement, two of our Night of the Stars nominees were featured riders on the float:
- Ms. Miller‑Grant, Distinguished Minority Educator
- Carmen Badia, School Related Employee of the Year
Their participation highlighted the exceptional talent and dedication found within our school community.
Oak Hammock K‑8’s involvement in the MLK Day Parade reflects our school’s ongoing mission to uplift students and engage meaningfully with the community. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all students, staff, and supporters who contributed to making this event a memorable success.
