NPK-8 Media Clerk’s Artwork Selected for Display on Fixed Route Buses

Mrs. Assunta Bailey is the Media Clerk at Northport K-8, but she is also a very talented artist. Her work can be seen around the city on utility box wraps and even a little library. Recently she came across a call to artists and she decided to submit a piece of her artwork to the Area Regional Transit for consideration to share her work on Fix Route Buses. To her surprise, her work was selected shortly after.

“For me, art has always played some part in my life,” said Bailey. “My work is an expression of who I am – from my triumphs to my struggles. I think it’s important because, for me, it helps me feel free. Art guides me on a powerful journey through all aspects of life.”
The Call to Artists was intended to engage new or established artists and is open to a wide range of proposals. Selected artwork can be displayed on Public Transit Vehicles and Facilities and could be displayed for as long as three years.

“Art. We see it every day, but how we see it is different from one person to the next,” said Bailey. “It has the potential to teach us so many things. As for artists, it helps us create and control our world. Having my art – essentially a piece of my world – selected to be shared with thousands of people over a few years is nothing short of exciting.”
