MDA Team Gets BOLD at Virtual School Conference

Mosaic Digital Academy teachers, Marsha Mimnaugh, Megan Thomaselli, Tara Borsman, April Mincey, and Courtney Lorange along with Principal Jeanne Ziemba attended the FLBOLDBlended Learning and Online Learning Discovery of Florida Conference in Tampa on January 30th and 31st to learn and lead sessions surrounding virtual learning best practices.

Annually, BOLD, Inc. also known as FLBOLD, has a 2-day Symposium to bring all virtual educators in the state together with vendors and suppliers of products and services that are important to virtual educators for a productive time of professional development.

During the conference, instructors Marsha Mimnaugh and Megan Thomaselli showcased how they use digital Math manipulatives from Brainingcamp with students in a virtual classroom to support deeper learning and to help students make those Mathematical Thinking and Reasoning Skills leaps!  These digital manipulatives are similar to the 3D manipulatives from Hand2Mind, used in classrooms across the district.

Principal Jeanne Ziemba and school counselor, April Mincey showcased Grade Guardian, a tool used with our Canvas LMS to help the team monitor student progress in real time. With this tool it allows our team to take the appropriate steps to communicate, collaborate, and document our efforts to increase student success. The team received a shout-out from the FLBOLD organization and was invited again next year to learn and lead!
