Invaders included feral pigs, red headed agamas, iguanas, monk parakeets, pythons, and Cuban tree frogs. The script followed the timeline of when the animals first came to our state. Westwood’s AICE Marine Science 1 classes at MOA participated in a visible light experiment in the Ocean Lab at Harbor Branch. Students were able to get a clear understanding of how visible light was affected when traveling through the different depths of oceanic water. Through this fun and hands on lab experience, students were able to explain which colors would be most effective at camouflaging oceanic organisms at different depths of the ocean. They were able to walk out from the activity explaining why most marine deep sea organisms do not have traditional color vision.
