Migrant Education End-of-Year Parent Meeting

The end-of-year parent meeting for the District’s Migrant Education Program was a wonderful collaboration of people and organizations. Elks Lodge #1520 donated 30 crock pots and surprised migrant students and parents with crock pots and groceries to take home. Parents also enjoyed learning about a variety of topics including: Parent Skyward Training (Facilitators: Jim Dunn and Pedro Balderas, ITS) Online 2019-20 School Registration (Facilitator: Angie Moreno, Student Assignment) ESE Services (Facilitator: Angie Moore, ESE) Farmworker Career Program (Facilitator: Betty Guerrero, IRSC) Health Services for Migrants (Facilitator: Eva Garcia, Florida Community Health Centers)

Young Authors Celebration

On May 18th, the Treasure Coast Literacy Association hosted its annual Young Authors Celebration at Oak Hammock K-8 School. Parents accompanied their young authors to this festive celebration of literary successes.    .

Summer Reading Challenge

ST. LUCIE COUNTY – The St. Lucie County Library System’s Summer Reading Challenge returns offering families a new digital online tracking system. The Summer Reading Blast Off Challenge runs June 1 through Aug. 3 offering students a chance to win a free Kindle Fire (one will be given out at each of the seven branch libraries), as well as tickets to a St. Lucie Mets baseball game or an all-day pass to St. Lucie County Pools or the St. Lucie County Aquarium. Chamber of Commerce Education Day

St. Lucie Public Schools welcomed this year’s Chamber of Commerce Leadership St. Lucie class for two stops on its “Education Day Tour.”   The day began with a hearty and healthy breakfast prepared by students in Fort Pierce Central High School’s Culinary Academy and sponsored by the St. Lucie County Education Foundation.  The group toured innovative programs including: Aeronautics, Digital Design, and Allied Health.  Later in the day, the group of distinguished county business and civic leaders were treated to lunch prepared by students in the WEST Prep Magnet’s Culinary Academy.  While on the Panther campus, the visitors toured state-of-the-art academies … Read More

LPA Qualified For National Bowling Championship

Fifth graders at Village Green Environmental Studies School were thrilled to learn about and enjoy eating food grown from their very own vegetable gardens! Students at the school grew “yummy” cabbages and “delicious” sweet potatoes.

Morningside Named National Finalist

Morningside Elementary was selected as the Florida Elementary School of the Year and National Elementary Finalist for the NEED project. Law Day

With special thanks to Friends of the Rupert J. Smith Law Library, Inc., students had the opportunity to participate in the 2019 Law Day Art Contest and Law Day Reception. FPCHS Donates to Veterans

Fort Pierce Central High School JROTC cadets participated in the Wreaths Across America fundraising effort in the fall and raised over $1,100.  The dollars raised were donated to St. Lucie County’s local veterans organizations in an effort to honor the men and women who dedicated themselves to serving and protecting our country in the armed services. Immediate Past President of the Military Officers Association of America, Treasure Coast Chapter Bobbie Williams and Treasurer of the United Veterans of SLC, Inc. St. Lucie Public Schools Participates In Summer Food Service Program

St. Lucie Public Schools will participate in the Summer Food Service Program during the months of June and July.  Nutritionally balanced meals will be provided to all children regardless of race, color, sex, disability, age or national origin during summer vacation when school breakfasts and lunches are not available.  At open sites, all children, 18 years old and younger, are eligible for meals at no charge, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.  The programs are only approved for geographical areas of need where 50 percent or more of the children qualify for free … Read More

Environmental Expo

Village Green Environmental Studies School hosted the Environmental Science Expo last weekend to highlight the school’s permaculture garden, square foot gardens, astronomy binoculars, solar lab and microscope center. Fifth grade students took responsibility to orient  guests about the variety of  plants grown, their origins, and their uses.
