Classrooms2Careers: Jackson Drugs Pharmacy Learning Round

Pharmacy Technician teachers from Fort Pierce Westwood Academy (FPWA), along with St. Lucie Public Schools Career Coaches, participated in an Educator Learning Round hosted by Jackson Drugs Pharmacy. The visit was led by President and Owner, Natasha Ramlagan, who welcomed educators for a behind-the-scenes look at the company’s operations and future growth plans.

During the learning round, participants engaged in an informative tour and discussion centered on Jackson Drugs Pharmacy’s expansion and its mission to grow in direct response to the needs of the surrounding community. Mrs. Ramlagan shared insight into how community demand shapes services, workforce needs, and long-term planning; highlighting the important role education and partnerships play in supporting that vision.

The guided tour sparked meaningful conversation about real-world pharmacy operations and provided educators with a clear picture of what FPWA Pharmacy Technician students will experience during their clinical training. Teachers gained valuable insight into the daily responsibilities, workflows, and professional environment students will encounter while working alongside pharmacists and their teams.

Career Coaches will use the information gained from this experience while meeting with students to discuss local career opportunities, workforce expectations, and pathways into the pharmacy and healthcare fields. This firsthand industry knowledge strengthens career advising by helping students better understand high-demand careers available within their own community.

This experience strengthened the connection between classroom instruction, career coaching, and industry practice, ensuring students are well prepared for hands-on learning and future careers in healthcare. Community partnerships like this continue to enhance career and technical education by aligning student learning with authentic workforce opportunities.
