Mrs. Miranda Spells’ first and second‑grade students are completing projects throughout the school year that align with their Benchmark reading units. This extension of their learning allows them to apply their creativity and strengthen their problem‑solving skills. GO LEOPARDS!
Life Cycles Project – Essential Question: How do living things get what they need to survive?
Students explored informational texts about different plants and animals and studied how each living thing meets its needs within its habitat. Students created visual life cycle models and written explanations showing how organisms grow, change, and survive throughout each stage.
Pumpkin Character Project – Essential Question: What can we learn when we face problems?
Students examined how characters respond to challenges and what lessons those challenges teach us. Each student selected a character and transformed a pumpkin into that character using creativity. Students wrote an original narrative describing a problem their character faced and how the character attempted to solve it.
Technology at Work – Essential Question: How can technology make a difference in our lives?
Students read informational texts about different forms of technology and discussed how inventions are created to solve problems. They wrote about various types of technology they use in their daily lives at home and school, explaining how these tools help them learn, communicate, and complete everyday tasks.
