The SLW Centennial High School’s Navy JROTC visited Oviedo High School near Orlando Florida to participate in the NJROTC Area 11/12 Florida States Air Rifle Championships on Friday, December 5th, 2025.
The Air Rifle Championships are open to participating NJROTC programs that have an active Marksmanship Program. The participants shoot at targets that are 33 feet or 10 meters away. They submit targets for the three positions that they shoot in. Those positions are Kneeling, Prone (laying down), and Standing.
SLW Centennial NJROTC “Black Talon” Company competitors were cadet Lieutenant Brandon Ramirez, cadet First Class Petty Officer Jacob Ramos, cadet First Class Petty Officer Eli Ross, and cadet Second Class Petty Officer Nolan Hamel.
The Marksmanship Team had a great event, they competed against 30 other Teams from 19 NJROTC units. Though they shot well, they finished in 19th place out of 30 and did not place in the top five. We’ll try again next year!
