K-5 Lawnwood students had a fantastic time participating in the Vocabulary Parade. This event was a wonderful celebration of our love for words and reading. It also provided a fun and academically focused opportunity for students to dress up in creative, homemade costumes. Inspired by Debra Frasier’s book “Miss Alaineus, A Vocabulary Disaster,” the concept made vocabulary learning enjoyable and interactive. During the parade, students wore costumes that illustrated the meaning of specific vocabulary words. This kinesthetic approach to learning fostered creativity and reinforced the understanding of word meanings in a memorable way. The Vocabulary Parade was an engaging tool, allowing students to immerse themselves in words beyond the confines of paper and classroom discussions. It served as a culminating celebration of words, bringing energy and enjoyment to the learning process. Students delighted in creating their costumes, learning new words, and parading through the campus. Overall, it was another successful and fun event at Lawnwood Elementary School.
