Fort Pierce Central Students Cook Up New Skills

Last week, the kitchen at Fort Pierce Central High School was full of energy as students enjoyed learning through a hands-on culinary experience led by Chef Strell and Chef Swertfager. The classroom transformed into a professional-grade kitchen, where students rotated through stations focused on fruit cutting, cookie making and decorating, and grilling. With sleeves rolled up and aprons on, students practiced essential techniques while receiving real-time guidance from both chefs. Their active presence through offering demonstrations, answering questions, and modeling industry standards created a dynamic learning environment that blended skill-building with creativity.

The collaborative atmosphere encouraged students to experiment, refine their techniques, and gain confidence in the kitchen. Thanks to the chefs’ expertise and mentorship, the culinary arts came alive in a way that was both educational and inspiring. This hands-on experience not only sharpened culinary skills but also highlighted the value of teamwork, precision, and passion in the kitchen.
