Manatee Academy K-8’s Book Vending Machine Celebration

Manatee Academy K-8 recently unveiled an exciting new addition to its campus—a book vending machine designed to promote literacy and reward academic success. The brightly colored machine, filled with a wide range of engaging and age-appropriate books, will serve as an incentive for students who excel in Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), i-Ready progress, and academic performance. Students who meet specific goals will receive a special token, allowing them to select a book to keep and take home. This innovative approach not only encourages reading but also motivates students to stay on track with their academic and behavioral goals.
The book vending machine was made possible through the generous support of the Children’s Services Council of St. Lucie County. Their contribution highlights a shared commitment to fostering a love of reading and supporting educational success among local youth. A special thanks to Sean Boyle, Ashley Mock, & John Cesar for their support in making this happen. This thanks is also extended to Debbie Hawley, and Jennifer Richardson (SLPS Board Members), Darrell Canamas (Executive Director SLPS), Kevin Singletary (Roundtable) and Manatee’s own Bridgette Tiegs and Brian Nelson – who made this dream a reality!
By combining positive reinforcement with access to high-quality reading materials, Manatee Academy K-8 is creating a nurturing and inspiring environment that empowers students to grow both academically and personally. This initiative is a testament to the power of community partnerships in shaping bright futures for students across the county.
