This week SLW Centennial’s Outboard Marine class embarked on an educational field trip to the Ft. Pierce Marina – River Walk. The trip included 24 enthusiastic students who were eager to learn more about their industry of interest. The visit included the presence of Ft. Pierce’s Mayor Linda Hudson, adding a special touch to the event. Students had the unique opportunity to speak with professionals from various marine-related fields. These experts demonstrated their daily tasks and explained the practical applications of school subjects like Algebra and Trigonometry in their work.

The highlight of the trip was a lunch that featured a panel discussion with distinguished experts, including leaders of the Coast Guard, a marine captain, and an underwater engineer. This interactive session provided students with valuable insights into different career paths within the marine industry. Overall, the field trip was a resounding success, offering students a firsthand look at the marine industry and the importance of their education in pursuing these careers. We extend our gratitude to the professionals who shared their knowledge, the Ft. Pierce Marine Organization, and to the Mayor for supporting this enriching experience.
