Fort Pierce Central High School Band Program earned Straight Superiors at the District 13 Marching Band Music Performance Assessment at Jensen Beach High School October 28th, 2023. Mr. Joshua Daniels is the director of bands and the Marching Cobras. The band staff includes assistant band director Emily Morgan, Percussion Instructor Christopher Ketcham, Winds Tech Derek Nierenberg, and Color Guard Coach Leigh Ann Rutter. The Band’s leadership team includes Band Captain Nicolas Tovar, Drum Majors Esteban Acosta and Makayla Vasser, Woodwind Lieutenant Megan Estarellas, Brass Lieutenant Jaden Rios, Percussion Lieutenant Jeano Dyer, and Color Guard Lieutenants Reed Wildes and Genna Zerga.
The Marching Cobras earned an overall superior rating in Visual Performance, Auxiliary, General Effect, and in each of their two Music Performance categories.
This year’s marching spectacular included four unique movements transporting listeners and viewers to hidden dwellings of magic, mystery, and the enchanted! Movement 1 features a Come Little Children from the original Hocus Pocus along with Shostkovich’s Symphony no. 10. Movement 2 features a number from the Sorcerer’s Apprentice and Chopin’s Funeral March. Movement 3 features My Immortal by Evanescence. Lastly, movement 4 is Danse’s Macabre.
