Piscopo Honored a State Finalist for Assistant Principal of the Year

ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FL – St. Lucie Public Schools (SLPS) is proud to share the Florida Department of Education’s (FDOE) announcement that Dan McCarty Middle School Assistant Principal Samantha Piscopo was named as one of the State’s five finalists for the 2019 District Assistant Principal of the Year!

“To be recognized as a State finalist is a great honor,” said Superintendent E. Wayne Gent. “Ms. Piscopo is an outstanding instructional leader who helps set the pace for student achievement and promotes a learning environment focused on excellence.”

Piscopo is an educational veteran who exhibits a spirit of relentlessness in her expectation for quality in all aspects of campus life knowing that this is required to keep a school in turn-around mode and excelling to high levels of achievement. She has built her leadership credentials on a foundation of positive relationships and well-earned trust from those with whom she works.  These qualities serve to motivate and inspire others as she endeavors to affect changes in culture and teaching practices through talent development, modeling, and support.

Piscopo’s curriculum leadership is respected and appreciated as she strives to maintain a culture of professional learning and implementation.  In an all-for-one and one-for-all spirit, she rolls up her sleeves and enthusiastically leads weekly collaborative sessions on data analysis, instructional strategies, and lesson planning.  Her welcomed presence in classrooms is routine as she follows up offering feedback and support to her team.  Her intuitive nature serves her well in coaching others to be the very best, and she is dedicated to supporting the ideal that all children are capable of success – no exceptions.

Bernadette Pletcher of James Tillman Elementary in Manatee County was named as the State representative for this award.   Derek Negron (Miami-Dade), Tiffany Scranton (Putnam), and Angela Stuckey (Suwanee) joined Piscopo as finalists.
