Test Drives Support Education

Help Buick donate up to $10,000 to Ft. Pierce Westwood High School! Drivers 21 and older are invited to take a 2 – 3 minute test drive on November 3rd at Fort Pierce Westwood High School. Buick will donate $10 for the first 100 test drives and $20 per test drive after the school hits the 100 benchmark. The event is scheduled from 8 AM to 3 PM on Saturday, November 3rd.

Ten St. Lucie Schools students earn Take Stock scholarships

Ten St. Lucie County Schools eighth grade students were recently awarded valuable incentives for future success with President’s Challenge/Take Stock in Children scholarship awards held recently at Indian River State College.  Through an application process, all the selected scholarship recipients sign a contract agreeing to maintain good grades, to stay out of trouble, to stay away from drugs and alcohol and to graduate from high school. Teddies for Tots at Palm Pointe

Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition would like to thank all the students and staff who donated the 850 plus teddy bears for the Teddies for Tots Drive.  This project was done during Kindness Week.  The bears were donated to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Department, and Sheriff Mascara came out to Palm Pointe to pick up all the bears.  These bears will be given to children in crisis throughout our community.  Pictured with administration is Sheriff Mascara and several deputies in his department.  Also pictured are students from Alison Perry’s fourth grade class who donated over sixty bears … Read More

Technology students create “sprites” at Palm Pointe

Students in Maurizio Apostolico’s Visual Computer Modeling class at Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition are hard at work creating “sprites,” images that can be used in their original game creations.  The concept was to illustrate an original game character, then pixelate the image to create a sprite.  Eventually, these sprites will become fully animated for their final project.  Pictured is seventh grader Logan Henik as he shows what he’s been creating.

Technical Design, Robotics, Logistics and Engineering Advisory Board

St. Lucie Public Schools Career and Technical Education teachers in the Technical Design, Applied Robotics, Global Logistics Supply Chain, Aerospace, and Engineering programs virtually met with business partners, Tim Fischer from South East Elevator, Paul Jakubczak from Fort Pierce Utilities Authority, Paul Godfrey from Indian River State College, Muhammed Anwar from East Coast Truss, Maria Brown and Jason Smith from A1 Truss, and Natalia Chekhovskaya from Indian River State College. The group shared experiences, exchanged ideas and will continue to build on this collaboration at their next meeting in December. Big thanks to all who attended!

Tech Design Preapprenticeship at Port St. Lucie High

Students in Mr. Picchiarini’s Technical Design classes are using Autodesk AutoCad and Inventor to design. Analyzing and editing are a big part of the process. After editing, the designs come to life using the class lab 3D printers. Pictured are some designs created by Kadesh Robbins, Nick Collins, and Nick Lambiase. TEAMS is Vibrant Conference Locale for Northport

Principal Rustay joined the 7th-grade Stingrays planning last week. The Stingrays are nearly at capacity with check-ins and attendance. The team is organized for maximum Virtual Learning. The teachers are hard at work and have their students online and checking in daily. Next, teachers are making sure that students are completing work.  Now they are working on ensuring that students are serious about their work and are humming along and that they understand the vitality and importance of completing assignments.  Work ethic mixed with care, concern, and understanding is the trademark of the Stingrays team. Teaming Up to Teach

SLW Centennial High School and Treasure Coast High School English and reading teachers teamed up for an Advanced Thinking Maps training focused on evidence-based writing. Teachers utilized scaffolded, structured maps to guide the argumentative writing process. The teachers and administrators present were inspired and well prepared to, in turn, inspire and prepare our SLPS students! It was an effective and instrumental talent development day!
