Palm Pointe Patriots Win Congressional Art Contest

Congratulations to artists Amelia Sides and Paige Kelly from Palm Pointe Educational Research School for winning the Congressional Youth Art Contest for St. Lucie County. Artists had to depict what the word patriotism means to them. Amelia won first place in the competition for her watercolor artwork of the American flag and bald eagle. Paige was runner-up with her watercolor American flag. Amelia’s artwork will be displayed in Congressman Brian Mast’s Washington DC office.

Palm Pointe participates in Martin Luther King Jr. parade

Students and staff at Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition enjoyed participating in the recent Martin Luther King Jr. parade. This year’s theme was “Reaching Beyond the Dream” and Palm Pointe designed their float using a rocket soaring into the clouds, stars and planets to take his dream into the future. Pictured on the float in the back, from left, are Michelle Farley and B-J Farrell. Students, front row, from left, are Fabrizzio Capocci, Raven Butts, Isaiah Jean, Liam Martinez and Kyle Beard.

Palm Pointe participates in Light It Up Blue for autism awareness

Students in the Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) class at Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition are pictured here as they work in their classroom.  Students and staff wore blue for “Light It Up Blue” for Autism Awareness with the proceeds going to help support the Autism Speaks Walk which will take place on April 21, 2012.  Pictured, from left front row, are  parent Cheryl Guth, John Howarth, Chelsea Falsey and Amy Chesnut. Palm Pointe participated in Circle of Hope

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month. On September 17, Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition participated in Circle of Hope, which is a district-wide project for creating cancer awareness, raising money for research and honoring those who have gone on a cancer journey. Palm Pointe Participated in Star Wars Concert

On Saturday, December 5, the Jazz Band under the direction of  Band Director Jason Hatfield from Palm Pointe Educational Research Center @ Tradition participated in All County Music’s Star Wars Day celebration in Tamarac, Florida.  Students dressed in Star Wars shirts and played themed music in a benefit concert for children in need. Palm Pointe P.B.I.S. Lunch Incentive

Palm Pointe had their first Sit With A Friend day! Students who paid 10 Rocket Fuel were able to sit with friends from other classes during lunch time as a part of their P.B.I.S program.

Palm Pointe Oratorical Contest Winners

Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition recently participated in the Martin Luther King Jr. Oratorical Contest that was a district event.  The theme this year was “Dream Forward: Choose Peace, Equality, and Change.  Students wrote their essays about this theme and recited their speeches before a panel of judges.  The school would like to congratulate eighth grade student Sarah Wouters for winning first place, sixth grader Kiahra Wood for placing third, and fourth grader Alexia Morgan for placing third.  Pictured from left is Sarah Wouters, Kiahra Wood and Alexia Morgan.  Great job Rockets!

Palm Pointe “Opens the Magic” with Literacy

Palm Pointe K-8 celebrated National Open the Magic Day with some truly magical guest readers!  Ms. Markowitz began the day with a read-aloud to all of our students on the morning news.  Then, our school was honored to welcome community leaders, district leadership, and school leadership who joined us to share the joy and magic of reading with our students.  Thank you to our amazing visitors for taking the time to inspire our young readers. Palm Pointe NJHS sponsors food drive

The Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition’s chapter of the National Junior Honor Society recently conducted its annual food drive. This is the fifth year that the food drive has been held in October. The club collected 16 boxes full of food for the local food bank, Harvest Outreach, in St. Lucie County. The food collected will help support many families that don’t have food for the fall holidays. This is a very worthwhile cause.  Pictured are NJHS members gathering the boxes.

Palm Pointe NJHS Peanut Butter Drive

Palm Pointe NJHS members helped to collect jars of peanut butter for the Port St. Lucie Sunset Rotary Club. These donated jars of peanut butter are placed in Grace Packs with additional nonperishable food items and distributed to local food-insecure children at the end of each school week. The Port St. Lucie Sunset Rotary partners with Grace Packs, Inc. who currently have 790 students on the roster receiving these Grace Packs.

Palm Pointe Night at the Met’s Stadium a Real “Hit”

Palm Pointe students got to enjoy a Family Baseball Night at Clover Park! Students watched the baseball game, Assistant Principal Mr.Keelor got to throw the first pitch, our middle school Vocal Vision choir sang the National Anthem, our elementary chorus sang “Take Me Out To The Ball Game” during the 7th inning stretch, and students had the opportunity to the run the bases after the game. It was a fun night had by all!

Palm Pointe Navigates 1st Place Win at the Fair

Palm Pointe is Navigating the Future with space travel at the St. Lucie County Fair. Congratulations to PPE on their first-place win at the SLC Fair School Display for the judge’s choice! The display included neon colors, and backlighting to highlight the amazing art creations done by students in grades K-8.  Some of the 3-dimensional art pieces created by the students included cars and robots.  In addition to creating the artwork, students incorporated writing pieces about their designs.  Students wrote about space travel, what it would be like to be an astronaut, and what their custom robots would do.  The art … Read More

Palm Pointe musicians get advice from local jazz group

The Palm Pointe Rocket Jazz Band recently hosted members from the Foirt Pierce Jazz and Blues Society for a side by side clinic to prepare students for their upcoiming festival performance at the District 13 Jazz ensemble Performance Assessment. The students enjoyed hearing new musical concepts to add to their music. The staff and administrators at Palm Pointe thank the members of the Jazz Society for their generous contribution of time and resources. Palm Pointe morning show crew delivers the daily news

Palm Pointe middle school spelling bee winners announced

Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition is proud to announce the middle school Spelling Bee winners.  The judges for this year’s competition were Alison Yano, Brandi Pagano, Andrea Tang and Debbie Hawley, St. Lucie County School Board vice chairman and chairperson for the FAU board.  The first place winner will compete in the district competition on February 22, 2012.  Pictured, from left, are first place winner Aishwarya Kalluri, second place Mackenzie Levin, and third place Renata Risi.    

Palm Pointe Middle School Soccer Champions

Palm Pointe Educational Research School won the St. Lucie County Middle School Soccer Championship on Saturday, February 7.  The coach of the team was Mr. Robert Santoro, Physical Education teacher and athletic director at the school.  “It was truly a team effort throughout the day as both the offense and defense had outstanding performances,”  said  Mrs. Santoro. Palm Pointe Middle School Escape Room Event

Students and families at Palm Pointe Educational Research School came out to participate in an Escape Room Event.  This event was designed to allow students to work together in solving various academic tasks that led them to clues.  These clues revealed special codes to lock boxes that revealed their next tasks.  Escape room tasks included different types of government systems, FSA Mathematical questions, language and editing tasks, and research on the inventions of Benjamin Franklin.  Students had to use black lights and QR codes to assist them in revealing the correct answers.  Both students and families had a terrific time … Read More

Palm Pointe media staff read to kindergarten students

Media specialist Elsie Garber, right, and media clerk Kathy Ferguson from Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition introduced the book “Mr. Wiggles” to Melissa Bonet’s kindergarten students. Ms. Ferguson read the book, which is about how to take care of the books in the library, to the students in the class. This lesson will be very helpful for these kindergarten students when they go to the library to check out books.

Palm Pointe Literacy Week was a Blast!

Palm Pointe students had an incredible week celebrating all things Literacy. Students wrote letters to authors and even got a response back from author, Betty Birney. Classes participated in various activities that ranged from Literacy Door Decorating, class read a-louds, book reviews, genre posters, community circles on character, and even creating class books on kindness. While at lunch, students viewed a presentation that highlighted their teacher’s pictures showing off their favorite book. Administrators and the Media Specialist also posted a read a-loud story time for the students to view with their families each evening.
