Mariposa participated in a school-wide STEM activity prepared by our Science Committee. The goal was to “Save Fred” with a partner using only four paper clips. The students could not touch Fred, the boat, or the life preserver directly with their hands! If they did, they needed to start from the beginning. This encouraged the students to collaborate, test, retest, and reflect. The students needed to describe, prepare a flow chart, and answer post questions to explain how they saved Fred.
