Celebrating the SLPS Schools of Excellence

Congratulations to our Schools of Excellence; Fairlawn Elementary School, Morningside Elementary, Palm Pointe K-8 Educational Research School, and Mosaic Digital Academy! The State Board of Education designates a school as a School of Excellence if the school’s percentage of possible points earned in its school grade calculation is in the 80th percentile or higher for schools comprised of the same grade groupings (elementary, middle, high, and combination) for at least two of the last three school years.

North County Career Fair

The North County Career Fair was held on April 4th at the Havert L. Fenn Center. Approximately 400 juniors and seniors from Fort Pierce Westwood Academy, Fort Pierce Central, Lincoln Park Academy, and Performance Based Preparatory Academy were in attendance. Students were able to meet and chat with company representatives, ask questions about their company and careers, interview, and possibly land internships. Elementary Science Showcase: A Celebration of Curiosity and Creativity!

On Saturday, April 6th, our school community came together for the Elementary Science Showcase, an event that ignited young minds and celebrated their scientific endeavors. Held at our district office, this showcase provided a platform for our elementary students to shine, share, and inspire. Students eagerly displayed their projects, engaging visitors in lively discussions. Whether presenting individually or as part of a group, their passion and knowledge were palpable. CTE Student Entrepreneurship Showcase

Career and Technical Education (CTE) students from middle and high schools across St. Lucie Public Schools participated in the CTE Student Showcase. The Showcase was all about entrepreneurship, the entrepreneurial mindset, and the resilience needed to be an entrepreneur.  The CTE classroom is a perfect place for teaching these skills since CTE teachers already cover many lessons and projects in entrepreneurship. Important Information about the Solar Eclipse

On Monday, April 8, 2024, there will be a solar eclipse viewable locally from approximately 1:45 pm to 4:15 pm. In our area, approximately 50% of the sun will be blocked. The day of the eclipse is a great learning opportunity for students and adults, but it can be dangerous to the eyes if proper care is not taken.  Therefore, we must establish precautions for the safety and protection of students and employees. Congratulations to the Westwood band on their performance at State Solo and Ensemble this past Friday. The Westwood Indoor Guard earned a rating of Superior for their performance students performing: Breauna Daniels-Cook Jamarri Moody Shamarri Simmons Serinity Smith Destin Wilson Shamarri Simmons earned a superior rating for her dance solo Kenneth Solano earned a rating of excellent for his solo.
