Carbenia at FPW for Speakers Bureau

The students and staff at Fort Pierce Westwood High School welcomed Mr. Michael Carbenia, the director of Career & Technical Education, as a guest in the Speakers Bureau series.

Mr. Carbenia opened his presentation with a PowerPoint used to describe the Career & Technical Education program. He explained to students that the Career and Technical Education program offers a complete range of career options for all students, helping them to discover their interests and the educational pathways that lead to success. These programs offer students the opportunity to achieve industry-recognized certifications, work-based learning experiences, and articulated college credits. CTE helps students gain the technical skills, rigorous academic foundation, and real-world experience they need for post-secondary education and a high-skill, high-wage, high-demand career.

Mr. Carbenia also spoke about the obstacles he faced throughout life and the challenges he had growing up; he acknowledges that although he experienced those moments, he was always able to overcome them because of the high expectations and the opportunities for success that were set in place by the caring adults in his life. He expressed to the students how much he enjoyed his job because now he is able through the CTE program to create the same opportunities for all children who attend high school in St. Lucie Public Schools, a District that believes all children are capable of success… No Exceptions!
