MSE Honors Our STARS

Morningside’s STARS were celebrated Monday, January 4, 2016, with a breakfast, MSE shirt, and certificate. Our School Related Employee of the Year is Candida Castrillo, executive secretary.  The Distinguished Minority Teacher is Stacey McColley, kindergarten teacher, and our Teacher of the Year is Coach Ryan Prue, PE teacher. Congratulations!!  

PBIS Dance at MSE

   Students in K-5 with no referrals for the second nine weeks danced and enjoyed each other’s company at the second annual PBIS in-school dance.

“Real Men Read” – Dads Come to Morningside Elementary

  Dads, Granddads and male caregivers wanted to be more involved in their students’ education, so this week Morningside Elementary dedicated two days to “Real Men Read.”  This  program allows men in the students’ lives to come into the classroom and read to their children and their children’s classmates.

Morningside Creates Art to Remember

Morningside students are creating a picture of “the Future” to help remember their past. Parents will be able to view and create gifts, stamps, and other items with their child’s art work.

Morningside grandparents are center stage!

Morningside Elementary celebrated Grandparents’ Day a little early.  The grandparents were invited to join their students for lunch on the stage, in front of the stage, and throughout the cafe to celebrate the importance of family supporting education and their students!

Morningside students SOAR!

Students rotate through the school hallways, parent pickup,  and cafeteria to learn or be reminded about  the expectations and Code of Conduct so they can SOAR through the year!  Thank you Deb Hitsman, administration, and the presentation team for a wonderful presentation!

Morningside celebrates Barbara Immediato and Peggy McBee

Both ladies celebrated their upcoming retirement with staff, teachers, family and other guests. Barbara (Mrs. I) has worked for 17 years in St. Lucie County working in our elementary schools with small groups of students to raise their confidence and achievement scores.  For the past 46 years, Peggy (Mrs. McBee) has taught high school students in Physical Education and has specialized in Gifted Curriculum throughout our county at the elementary level.  Best Wishes to you both! You will be missed!

Fifth Grade Morningside Students Ready for Testing

Morningside fifth graders participated in a fun-filled, yet educational pep rally under the direction of Deb Hitsman, our guidance counselor.  They ran relays, tried to keep that hula hoop going, and dug in sand to find answers to questions about Math.    

Morningside PTO Presents Escape School

The PTO at Morningside Elementary hosted parents and students for an exciting evening of dinner and Escape School.  Mr. Seliga taught students how to escape from adults who could cause them harm and gave them tips on how to ask for help from adults.  

Morningside Elementary Promotes Trustworthiness!

Parents, friends and neighbors honored our February students of the month for the character trait of Trustworthiness.  Each child was given a certificate and a positive affirmation about why they are trustworthy.  The students then enjoyed a cookie and time with their guests. Pictures of each grade levels students follow.     

Poetry Alive Comes to Visit Morningside Elementary

Poetry Alive, an interactive program that puts actions to poetry and makes it “come alive”  for students K-5th grade was presented on Monday, February 23, 2015.  The students clapped, yelled, listened quietly and responded with gestures.  They have contests and other fun things for students at www.poetryalive.com
