In an interactive event at Allapattah Flats K-8, the Centennial Boys’ Basketball team took time off the court to inspire young readers. As part of a unique March Madness-themed activity, the athletes visited first-grade classrooms to read to the students. The players enjoyed sharing their favorite stories with the eager young audience. Their presence brought a sense of excitement and engagement as the students listened attentively to each story. Following the reading sessions, the athletes participated in a question-and-answer session, where they interacted with the students by answering questions about their experiences both on and off the court.

This event highlighted the positive impact of student athletes as role models in the community. By combining sports and literacy, the Centennial Boys’ Basketball team demonstrated the importance of education and teamwork, encouraging young readers to pursue their own passions and interests. Additionally, the athletes’ involvement fostered a love for reading and emphasized the value of community support and mentorship.

The collaboration between the basketball team and the elementary students created a memorable and inspiring experience leaving a lasting impression on the young readers and reinforcing the importance of literacy and learning.
