On Thursday, February 20th, Cobra Nation swelled with pride as we greeted our rising 9th graders and class of 2029! Our campus came alive with the energy and excitement of our annual Rising Freshmen Open House, welcoming over 700 incoming freshman families into our vibrant Cobra community. The evening commenced with an inspiring ceremony in our auditorium, where our current freshman class officials showcased our academic programs and student life opportunities. The celebration was elevated by our talented JROTC students, who presented the colors with precision and dignity under Sergeant Major Jackson’s guidance, followed by our choir’s stirring rendition of the national anthem, masterfully directed by Mr. Harris.
After Mr. Gardner’s heartfelt welcome address, families emerged into our transformed courtyard, where they experienced the full spirit of our school community. Our band filled the air with music while our cheerleading team delivered dynamic performances. The Student Government Association had tunes floating in the air by DJ & SGA Sponsor Mr. Bradley, while students created lasting memories with their creative photo booth including none other than our newly knighted mascot The Mighty King Cobra!
FPC’s diverse array of athletic teams and over 25 clubs, cranked up the excitement by encouraging future students to find their fit with their Cobra classmates! As parents, students, and their extended families made their way around the courtyard, the evening glow of campus was illuminated not only by lamp posts but by the electric enthusiasm exploding from current Cobras! Parent could be heard saying I loved Speech and Debate Club, You know I was a wrestler, Pottery was my favorite class, I wish I took Culinary…by joining clubs, and organizations, and becoming a part of growing academic and skill-based programs, new students become life-long Cobra family members.
The evening featured a spirited table decorating competition, thoughtfully judged by our esteemed panel: Mrs. Martinez, Mrs. Oliver-Bass, Mrs. Glenn, and Mr. Alfonso. Their careful deliberation resulted in three outstanding winners: the imaginative Dungeons and Dragons table secured third place and a $50 prize, while the innovative Health Science display earned second place and $75. The Arts & Medicine table’s exceptional creativity garnered first place honors and the grand prize of $100, generously sponsored by our District Athletic Director- Mr. Crespo.

Mr. Hueter as seen below with his D & D club participants really made the night roar to life along with Ms. Avra at the pottery wheel recruiting the next generation of clay masters!

This magical evening exemplified the collaborative spirit of our school community, and we extend our deepest gratitude to Mr. Crespo and SAC for their generous contributions, our dedicated judges, and every participant who helped make this Open House an extraordinary success. We look forward to welcoming these promising students as they begin their journey in our Cobra family.
