Dr. Mark Rendell kicked off Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition’s yearlong reading initiative entitled, “Real Men Read” which encourages all students to read but emphasizes the importance of boys reading. During his 2 minute video presentation he discussed his love of reading and shared several books that he thinks students would enjoy as well as what he is currently reading.
Dr. Kevin G. Perry, Assistant to the Superintendent, was the featured speaker for the 8th Annual Alumni Day of Service (ADOS) for Bethune-Cookman University’s Events Luncheon. He delivered a speech entitled, “A Call To Service,” in which alumni were reminded of the University’s motto, “Enter to Learn, Depart to Serve,” and why their service is relevant and important. During this annual event, alumni return to campus to serve the current students by providing workshops, conducting mock interviews, providing forums, and offering real life real work information and experience to students in an effort to further prepare them for life after college. … Read More
On Friday, November 17, 2017, Allapattah Flats welcomed motivational speaker and SLPS Deputy Superintendent Dr. Jonathan Prince of the Speakers Bureau. Dr. Prince was introduced by Dr. Donna Mills who began the Speakers Bureau four years ago. SLPS added an emergency alert button to the St. Lucie Public Schools app. The app is FREE and available in your favorite app store. The added feature allows users to submit anonymous tips to school and district officials anytime, anywhere.
Port St. Lucie High School Jaguars celebrate with Ryan Downing as he signs a letter of intent to play Jacksonville Dolphins Football for the University of Jacksonville. He is joined by his Mother, Grandparents, and Coach Dent. Many teammates, teachers, and staff shared in the celebration.
To promote their Scholastic Book Fair and create a way for dads to be involved with their children’s school day, Fairlawn Elementary School hosted a Doughnuts for Dads themed shopping morning. Dads were invited to come shop with their students and then have a doughnut and a cup of coffee before they left to start their day. Approximately 145 dads came to Fairlawn to shop with their students and support Fairlawn Elementary’s Media Center.
Dorothy in Wonderland, The Musical is the first full drama production performed at Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition. What an amazing job the cast and crew did. The drama class, under the direction of Mrs. Melanie Larsen, worked very hard getting ready for this show and it definitely paid off. The cast posed for a picture just before the opening performance. Recently, the Palm Pointe Media Center was transformed into Sir Read-A-Lot’s Castle. One Tuesday morning, Donuts for Dad was the theme and Princess Paige Turner (Mrs. Garber, Media Specialist) and Sir Read-A-Lot (Mrs. Ferguson, Media Clerk) welcomed our Rockets and their male role models to a bountiful banquet of books. Over 200 fathers and their children enjoyed freshly made donuts at Village Green Environmental Studies School in celebration of Dads Take Your Children to School Day!
Gaines Academy will host a Doughnuts with Dad Day this Wednesday September 30th at 8am in the SGA Auditeria. Students will have doughnuts with Dad (or any honorary dad or male role model). Then, they will create a special project with Dad for a school-wide display. Come on out, Dads!
Florida’s educational leaders are providing opportunities for fathers to engage more fully in their children’s education and to strengthen the connections between fathers and schools through the celebration of Dads Take Your Child to School Day. Your child’s school will share specific information with you. In the meantime, mark your calendar and plan to join in this statewide movement on September 28, 2016.

The December 12th delivery schedule started out promising to serve 3 schools, but as donations poured in, the number of schools quickly grew to 13. Isabella Sierra, kindergartner at Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition, collected over 400 food items for her sixth birthday party instead of gifts for herself. The items were donated to the school’s “Grace Packs” program. This program helps provide weekly weekend food for students who lack an ample food supply, relieving the burden many of these children endure by being hungry. She is a role model student and example that love provides. A huge thank you to this generous student!
