Fairlawn Elementary 2nd-grade students learned all about the qualities of a good citizen in August.  The students studied the various symbols that represent the United States of America.

Third-grade students at Morningside Elementary are going mad over multiplication! Through engaging stations, academic games, and small group instruction, we are working hard to ensure all of our Blue Jays are learning every day. Titan Cross Country Runner Breaking Records

Treasure Coast High School is proud to announce Cross Country runner, Kaitlynn Moore, ran her personal best on Saturday with a time of 20:06 setting a new school record. She finished 3rd out of 132 runners at the Park Vista Invitational. Congratulations, Kaitlynn! Titan Born, Titan Bred!

Lakewood Park Elementary Mathematicians

All third-grade classes at Lakewood Park have been busy creating their own counting manipulatives in order to better explore mathematic concepts in a hands-on manner. These kid-made manipulatives are being used to reinforce multiplication and division concepts and will be brought out again soon when we explore rounding. Third-graders at Lakewood Park Elementary are exploring, learning, and creating their way to success!!

Lincoln Park Academy School Counselors Stretching Their “Cache of Knowledge”

Lincoln Park Academy school counselors had the pleasure of attending the State University System of Florida Admissions Tour (SUS) held at Florida Atlantic University on August 30, 2023. Port St. Lucie High Launches 1st DECA Chapter

Port St. Lucie High School teachers Jasmine Shepherd, Nolan Shepherd, and Brittney Sievers worked together to launch the first-ever DECA chapter. DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management in high schools and colleges around the world. For the first DECA meeting, students came together and conducted officer elections. Students came fully prepared with presentations and speeches. We are so excited for our students who are eager to launch this new experience that will help them reach their college and career goals!

Frances K. Sweet Welcomes Community Partnership with First United Methodist of Fort Pierce

Frances K. Sweet is excited to have a new community partnership with First United Methodist of Fort Pierce. Through this partnership, the church has already provided backpacks and supplies for students, school uniform shirts, and welcome-back goodie bags for all staff. First United will also provide Grace Packs to students and their siblings, volunteer at the school, provide Big Brothers and Big Sisters mentoring for literacy, and support the work already started in our botanical garden. We are so excited about this partnership and look forward to a SWEET year!

LPA Yearbook Staff Helps Coordinate Picture Day

Lincoln Park Academy’s dedicated yearbook staff work diligently to help organize school picture day. The entire staff started the year strong working all morning during their class time alongside the photographers to ensure a successful fall picture day. Several dual-enrollment students, staffers, and volunteers dedicated their entire day to the success. Thanks to Ms. King and her amazing yearbook staff, picture day went smoother than expected for everyone.        

Port St. Lucie High School Students Test Paper Airplanes in Science!

Mr. Archer’s Environmental Science students worked collaboratively in groups to create designs for paper airplanes and then tested their designs using different weighted paper. All students were engaged and taking on an active role in the learning process, as each student had an assigned role in the experiment (e.g. one launched the plane during each trial, another measured the distance, several recorded data, etc.). A FUN time was had by all of our students!

FPC Traditions Make School a Community

Senior & Freshmen Breakfast One honored tradition at Fort Pierce Central is our annual senior & freshmen breakfast. To support the milestone transition of elevating to high school, FPC brings 12th and 9th graders together for a time to connect, plant roots, and form bonds that support new friendships. A campus becomes a community–a home away from home, and a family when traditions bring us together while differences fade away. Common interests paired seniors and freshmen with interesting ice-breaker activities followed by sharing high school experiences. Preparing for a Penda Party at MSE!

Students in Mrs. Mukhamedov’s 5th-grade class at Morningside Elementary prepare for a Penda Party. Penda is an online, interactive gaming platform that brings students real-life experiences tied with formative questions to test their understanding. Students are encouraged to pass 2 lessons with 80% or better each week, and they will have an opportunity to win Penda Prizes! Ask your child if they met their Penda goal for the week. Southport Middle School Students Enjoy First Pep Rally of the Year

On Monday, August 28th, 6th-grade students at Southport Middle School experienced their first pep rally of the school year. As part of the festivities, students participated in a cheer competition, competed in a cup-stacking relay race, and claimed their victory as the most spirited school team. Southport’s mascot, Ivan, had an amazing time! Once a Hurricane, always a Hurricane!        

LPA IB Students Building a Mesocosm

Lincoln Park Academy IB 3 students build a mesocosm which involves creating a controlled environment to study the interaction in ecosystems on a smaller scale. The mesocosm is an 8-week project that demonstrates the interaction of biotic and abiotic factors within a small ecosystem. Students must collect data on the organism’s growth, behavior, and interactions, as well as environmental parameters, then they analyze the collected data to draw conclusions about how the ecosystem functions in this controlled setting.      

LPA Senior Band Members Host “Instrument Intros”

Members from the Lincoln Park Academy Wind Ensemble collaborated with the 6th-grade band students and demonstrated the sounds of each band instrument. The students were able to get a preview of the wonderful band culture at LPA and select their instrument of choice. The 6th-graders were highly enthusiastic, polite, and eager to begin their journey into becoming musicians. Go Greyhounds!

Northport K-8 Students Get the Blood Pumping

Seventh-grade Northstars students in Mr. Fess’ STEM class performed experiments to lower their blood pressure and pulse rates. These students are currently studying vital signs as part of their Medical Detectives unit.
