Teachers Become Dell Certified Educators

Our latest Dell Certified Educators worked with experienced Dell EMC consultants and SLPS district leaders to integrate best practices in the application of technology to their instruction, curriculum, and assessment. On their path to becoming Certified Educators, each developed a personal goal to facilitate learning in a technology-rich, student-centered environment. CAST Student Wins Sunrise Theatre Contest

Northport Teacher Attends Relevant Webinar

Flattening the emotional curve: Elasticity and Resiliency During COVID-19 was the theme of a webinar offered in late April. Recently, Mrs. Elizabet Flores participated in the webinar that helps with strategies and tools to identify those students that need motivation for distance learning and how to deal with the stressful situation of COVID-19. She came away from the webinar with excellent tools to share.

Math Curriculum Specialist Awarded FCTM Grant!

St. Lucie Public Schools Math Curriculum Specialist, Christina Worley was just awarded a Kenneth Kidd Mini-Grant from the Florida Council of Teachers of Mathematics. The grant funds projects that enhance teacher and student understanding of mathematics.  Ms. Worley’s grant proposal focused on teacher training in developing engaging ways for students to review math concepts. The funds will be used to purchase supplies for teachers to create “Escape Room” activities for students. Congratulations!

On Friday, May 15th, secondary music students in St. Lucie Public Schools and their teachers played “Lean on Me” in their yards to honor all those who have sacrificed so much during this Covid-19 pandemic. It was a touching tribute and a wonderful way to connect virtually with one another! Great job everyone!

K-5 Art is Thriving at CAST

Ms. Swabon’s elementary visual art students at CAST have been submitting their art for various projects.  Some included here are: leaf rubbings, creating a “found object” color wheel, drawing and photography of everyday life and documentary photography.

Northport Young Authors Promote Tradition!

As we are wrapping up a tumultuous yet extremely productive school year…we want to give a big SHOUT OUT to the students and parents who worked on their Young Authors books. At Northport, the learning never stops. We are a traditional school and we preserve our customs..no matter what! Mariner Teachers Make Deliveries

Recently, Kindergarten teachers Mrs. Guermithe Ogé and Mrs. Esther Jean delivered surprise packages to their students.  The children were so excited to receive a visit from their teachers and their teachers were delighted to see them – even if it was from a distance!    

CAST Performs Virtually

Creative Arts Academy, K-5 Drama teacher, Mary Roti has been working with her students as they create and perform virtually.  Third-grader, Alex Sosta, performed a duet scene with his brother, 6th grader, Jace Sosta. Alex created his superhero character through a variety of activities such as acting objectives, character creation, and performance. He collaborated with his brother who is a middle school Media Arts student. These scenes are included in the weekly announcements uploaded to CANVAS and YouTube.

Free Meals for Children: Tuesdays and Thursdays

Free “Grab and Go” Meals are available on Tuesday and Thursday from 11 am-1 pm. The multi-day meal packages contain 2 breakfasts and 2 lunches on Tuesday and 3 breakfasts and 3 lunches on Thursday.
