Agreement Reached to Distribute Referendum Funds Earmarked for Teacher Salaries

ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FL – The District and the CTA/CU Negotiations Teams met to begin salary negotiations and have reached a tentative agreement for the utilization of referendum funds earmarked for teacher salaries.  In this tentative agreement, the Board and St. Lucie CTA/CU agree to a four-year provision for all eligible teachers (including new hires) to receive a Referendum Recruitment and Retention Annual Supplement in the following amounts beginning with the 2019-2020 school year:   Beginning teachers = $1,000  1- 5 years eligible experience = $2,000  6-9 years eligible experience = $5,000  10 years + eligible experience = $7,800 This supplement … Read More

Congratulations, Graduates!

This year’s SLPS Class of 2019 is nearly 3,000 strong, and there is a lot to be proud of. Students earned scholarships totaling $25,801,907, 186 students earned their AA Degrees while in high school, and the District assigned 75 “A Promise Is A Promise” contracts to students planning to seek careers as educators.

Dear Edwina Jr. Shines At The Creative Arts Academy Historic Auditorium

On May 23 and 24, 2019, 13 Creative Arts Academy musical theatre students presented the musical comedy “Dear Edwina Jr” in the historic CAST auditorium. Presented by special arrangement with Music Theatre International, the musical follows the story of Edwina Spoonapple who seeks to impress a talent agent in order to feel success comparable to the success of her siblings. Performed with spectacular lights and sound, the show was applauded by both adults and students alike.

Morningside Library Splashes Into Summer This June

PORT ST. LPA Girls Tennis Wins FHSAA All-State Academic Award

The girls tennis team at Lincoln Park Academy recently won the All-State Academic Team Award from the FHSAA with a combined 3.912 GPA.  Congratulations to the coaches and players. Mariposa Elementary Celebrates the 100 Mile Club®

At Mariposa Elementary, students in grades 2-5 joined in our 100 Mile Club® which was organized by our PE teacher, Mrs. Adriana Roberts. Whether the students ran, jogged, or walked towards their personal goals, the 100 Mile Club® inspired students of all abilities to be active in an accepting, positive, and inclusive environment. Michael Resendiz-Torres, Gabriel Barahona, Yadiel Tavarez and Jaistyn Thurston ran or walked more than 100 miles each.  This year, Mariposa Elementary students walked more than 8,000 miles.  This was a great achievement for all of the students.

Port St. Lucie High School Senior Graduation Color Guard

On Saturday May 23, 2019, Port St. Lucie High School JROTC Jaguar Battalion’s Color Guard Team presented the colors at the Fenn Center for the Class of 2019 Senior Graduation. Seniors were excited to graduate and start their lives outside of high school. During the color guard the Port St. Lucie High School Chorus sang the National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance. Commanding the Color Guard was National Flag Bearer Cadet Major Joleen Kalinowski accompanied by Cadet Major Dariel Parzych as State Flag Bearer, Cadet 1ST Lieutenant Lila Meade as National Guard, and Cadet Sergeant James Mikovsky as State Guard. … Read More

LUCIE COUNTY, FL — Growth continues in St. Lucie Public Schools according to the Florida Department of Education’s release of Grade 3 ELA Scores.  The District saw a four-percentage point increase over last year’s benchmark; furthermore, 62% of the County’s traditional schools increased in the number of students who scored at proficiency levels (Levels 3, 4, and 5). Bayshore Elementary showed the greatest gain in the District over last year with a 21% gain. Other schools with large increases include Floresta Elementary with a 16% increase; Samuel S. Oxbow Kicks Off Summer Camps with Biology Bootcamp June 24

PORT ST. LUCIE – Spots are filling up at the Oxbow Eco-Center’s Summer Nature Camps, but there are still some spaces left, starting with the Wildlife Biology Bootcamp, beginning June 24. Designed for students ages 10-14, the Biology Bootcamp run June 24-28 focusing on science in nature. Campers will conduct their very own wildlife field studies on the Oxbow’s 225 acres of diverse Florida habitat.
