Forest Grove team wins middle school science bowl

Twelve teams from six Title One Schools competed against each other in a science bowl competition at Westwood High School’s Marine Oceanographic Academy and FAU-Harbor Branch Oceanographic Center on Saturday, February 16th. The competition was a Jeopardy-style competition were two teams competed against each other in each match. Questions in the subjects of physical science, life science, earth and space science and mathematics were asked. Two types of questions were used including individual toss questions as well as team-answered bonus questions. Teams from Allapattah Flats K-8, Dan McCarty School, Forest Grove Middle School, Ft. Pierce Magnet School of the Arts, Southern Oaks Middle School, Southport Middle School were represented in the competition. Excitement filled the air as the final match between Southport Middle School and Forest Grove Middle School ended in a tie and had to be decided by a five question tie-breaker round.
