For Second Year in a Row Positive Agreement Is Reached With St. Lucie Public Schools and Unions…

St. Lucie Public Schools (SLPS) reached a positive agreement with its Classroom Teachers Association (CTA) and Classified Unit (CU) partners on Tuesday, July 12th. Superintendent E. Wayne Gent stated, “This represents a true spirit of collaboration and trust. I commend our bargaining teams and the commitment of our School Board who have worked together to reach an agreement prior to the beginning of the school year. This marks the second year in a row we have accomplished this.” CTA/CU President Vicki Rodriguez said, “Both teams have been diligent in their work this summer to reach the best agreement possible given the state’s lack of new money. We are pleased to have reached an agreement for the second year in a row before the start of school.”

The value of compensation package is approximately $4,725,000 and includes $2,757,000 in recurring salary increases and $1,968.000 in one-time bonus money. In addition to salary and bonus, the package also includes the continued Board contribution of $750 to a Health Savings Account (HSA) for employees enrolled in the Blue Options Plan 5180/5181. This adds approximately $1,141,000 to the overall package bringing the total package to an approximate $5,866,000.

For teachers (CTA), this means a minimum annual increase of $1,030. Classified Employees (CU) members will each receive a step increase as well as an increase in the step amounts. In addition to the annual recurring increases above, eligible CTA and CU employees will all receive a one-time $500 bonus per employee.

Bargaining continues with SLPS and CWA partners.
