Chester A. Moore 5th grader, Nevaeh Estima’s art placed 1st for the St. Lucie County School District. Nevaeh’s artwork will be displayed in Washington, D.C., at the U.S. Capitol for a year, representing our district’s talent alongside winning artwork from participating districts nationwide. In addition, her artwork will be featured on the House.gov‘s Congressional Art Competition page! Sahira Michel’s artistic skills earned her an Honorable Mention, recognizing her impressive skills and creativity.
Chester A. Moore hosted its Title 1/21st Century Parent Night. Parents received great resources from teachers, community partner Crystal Jones with the Urban League of Palm Beach’s Stop Now, Plan (S.N.A.P) program and ClassDojo. The Heroines of Jericho volunteered to serve the parents dinner. Congratulations to the Paulk’s who won the TV giveaway for using ClassDojo.
Chester A. Moore Elementary, in conjunction with 21st Century, held its first family night on November 9, 2021. The goal was to empower families with skills to support their children’s academic and social emotional success at school and home. A media presentation engaged families in learning how to access Microsoft Teams, Skyward Family, and Class Dojo. Parents were afforded the opportunity to ask questions, provide feedback, and engage in hands-on activities. We are proud of the 18 parents who attended and look forward to increasing family engagement activities and participation throughout the school year.
Chester A. Moore continues to open the doors to the most important resource (our families). Parents heard about data, and personal goals, and were provided certificates celebrating their students’ unique strengths during Student Led Conferences.
Students at Chester A. Moore received a warm, cheerful welcome to the 2023-2024 school year from our community partners, caring volunteers, and district staff at the start of their school day. We love the support for our Kids at Hope mission.
Sunbelt Rental recently donated 25 bins of school supplies collected by their staff members and business partners to C. A. Moore Elementary School. Thank you for your support!
Students worked outside to clean up the parking lot median and parking spots that have been blocked with sand. Inside, students beautified the cafeteria with a fresh coat of paint. We want to give a huge thanks to all the students, staff, and family that came out to this event. Students, Teachers, Ms. Wonesh and Ms. McAuliff and Family volunteers (Mr. Wonesh and Kim Nolan) drew and painted a variety of scenery for our upcoming play.
On April 17, 2024, CAM honored its 54 business and community partners and volunteers. Attendees enjoyed a homecooked southern breakfast, reviewed school improvement data and goals, and heard from teachers, staff, and students about the impact of their support.
Principal Dr. Thelma Jackson and Assistant Principal Tammy Davis gave back time while supporting Bass Temple’s Back to School Drive. Thank you to all of the families that came out to receive backpacks and school supplies.
Chester A. Moore Elementary would like to thank Ms. Zulay Garcia and community partners Fort Pierce Elks Lodge #1520, River of Life Fellowship, and Nettles Island Womens Club. Ms. Garcia worked with Sunrise Theatre to provide this exciting learning opportunity. Additionally, the generous donations from community sponsors funded busing and admissions, making it possible for the entire 5th grade class to attend.
Our CAM babies have optimism learning about Iver Anderson who invented lead-free solder. Anderson challenges students to think about the “silver lining”, the thought, the “ah ha” moment when different pieces can be brought together to solve a problem that nobody thought was possible. Often after a rainstorm, the clouds part, and the sun comes out. When the sun shines on the back of the cloud, it is referred to as the silver lining. Second and Third Grade students at Mariposa Elementary challenged their families and friends to chess this week! Students came to school dressed up as chess pieces, ready to teach their families how each piece moves. Families enjoyed some chess poems and a brief explanation of how to play. Then students challenged their peers and relatives to a game of chess! This family game night was made possible through a grant called “First Move,” which teaches students to play chess through online videos, computer games, and weekly chess practice. At Samuel Gaines Academy of Emerging Technologies, Mr. Nicks’ 8th grade Science class incorporated their knowledge of compounds, elements, and mixtures to complete a hands-on activity. The students used Snap Cubes to demonstrate the differences between compounds, elements, and mixtures (homogeneous & heterogeneous). The students then used their models to explain the reasoning for its construction.
On January 21st, 5th grade students with 97% attendance (2 days or less absent) or better and no referrals in Quarter 2, were blessed with a grand, catered luncheon and gift bags by Chef Tamesha Hamilton-Spivey. Students entered the transformed cafeteria to see tablecloths, silverware and color coordinated place settings, donated by our Reading Coach Latisha Fuller-Mustafa. Chef Roy from Roy’s Sushi Thai and Grill rolled into TCHS and brought the sushi skills with him! Our culinary students learned how to properly prep and roll classic California rolls—and the best part? They got to enjoy their own creations when they were finished! Chef Roy walked us through real kitchen tips like setting up a clean workstation, getting the rice just right, and rolling with the perfect amount of pressure so everything stays tight and tasty. Chester. A Moore Elementary welcomed Chef Howard Farro to speak to our 5th Graders as part of our Black History Month and AVID speaker series. Students were excited to learn about how Chef Howard’s career got started and especially how he became a personal chef for celebrities! Chef Farro gave an inspirational talk that encouraged students to pay attention in school, always do the best they can, and to know they can rebound from any setbacks in life.
At Bayshore Elementary, our Kindergarten through 2nd-grade students had an exciting and uplifting pep rally designed to build confidence and motivation as they prepare for testing! Students were warmly encouraged by our principal, Mrs. Silas, and assistant principal, Mrs. Rivera, who shared positive words and reminded everyone to do their very best. The rally featured a fun and engaging PowerPoint filled with encouraging messages and helpful testing strategies to support student success.
