A high-quality public education should empower today’s young people with the skills they need to forge a path to bright futures. With this in mind, GreatSchools is proud to announce the winners of the 2018 College Success Award. This honor recognizes 814 high schools across nine states that have a successful track record of going beyond simply graduating students to helping them enroll in college and succeed once they get there.
The College Success Award-winning high schools stand out based on school-level postsecondary data collected and shared by their states. This data tells us whether students enroll in college, are ready for college-level coursework, and persist on to their second year. The award-winning schools are located in nine states where this postsecondary data is available: Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri and Ohio.
Port St. Lucie High School students take time during organized school-wide events such as the recent flag football game to reflect in remembrance of victims of violence. Student leaders work with school administrators to plan school events and opportunities for students to voice thoughts, share ideas, and exercise positive civic responsibilities.
Elaine Lawrence’s first graders proudly bring their Young Author books to the media center today. It was so difficult to pick the two best books to enter competition. ❤ Great job to children and teacher. At Northport, the entire school participates in the annual Young Authors program. The program brings joy to writing, a common language among teachers, students and parents and provides a time to have fun with words and illustrations. Each teacher turns in “Best Class Representatives,” and from those books, seven are selected to visit the District Young Authors Ceremony. At Northport, we share in the spirit and joy of writing for pleasure.
