Students receive great support from paraprofessionals
Honor Roll Assemblies were held prior to winter break, and seen celebrating Principal’s Honor Roll is F.K. Sweet Elementary third grade student, Justin Adrian, and his father Todd Adrian, a teacher at Fairlawn Elementary School. Students making Principal’s Honor Roll must obtain A’s in all subjects, including art, music, physical education, and conduct.
Students at F.K. Sweet Elementary that have read a total of 10 Florida Sunshine Books were recently treated to an ice cream sundae party by Jeannie DuPell, media specialist. The goal is to read all 15 books by the end of spring.
Fourth grade students at F.K. Sweet Elementary in Amiee Cripps’ class are currently focusing on Florida history and are proud of their Florida Native American projects. Each student created a diorama focusing on an aspect of their life and culture.
The recent Scholastic Book Fair at F.K. Sweet Elementary was a huge success. Students were able to browse before making their final selections of favorite reads. Pictured getting ready to shop are students Alexicia Barron and Derek Paredes.
Students at F.K. Sweet Elementary recently enjoyed an after school dance sponsored by the PBS Team. The proceeds from the dance will be used to purchase award items for each classroom teacher. This conga line is enjoying one of many different kinds of dances.
Robbie Baumgarten, a second grade student in Rachel Lutha’s class at F.K. Sweet Elementary is using a part of his Daily Five Reading time to reflect and write about what he has just read. Students are afforded choices within the literacy routine on a daily basis.
Fairlawn Elementary School recently celebrated the 11th Annual Inclusive Schools Week. Media Specialist Buster Nelson read a different book about children with disabilities to each grade level. St. Lucie West Centennial High School senior Nicole McHenry is one of only 16 student athletes chosen from over 700 Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) member schools to serve on the FHSAA Student Advisory Committee.
