What an absolutely wonderful morning of patriotism and pride at Northport today. Many local veterans came into school to take part in a Veteran’s Panel for students. Mrs. Kemp’s third graders led the program with the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Renelus and his band played the National Anthem and a rousing rendition of a medley of the songs for each branch of the military. Students in Susan Smith’s class read a poem called “The Veteran’s Blessing.” The veterans spoke eloquently about the importance of teamwork, support, brotherhood, education and most importantly, honor and integrity. These words are the pillars of a solid educational experience at Northport. The words patriotism, integrity, commitment, sacrifice, honor, service, respect and empathy are the guiding words for American citizenship. We teach our students the meaning of these words by example every day at Northport. Thank you to all veterans who participated and thank you to the teachers who spoke about honoring our veterans in their classes.
Teachers, parents, grandparents and friends…
Northport K-8 is building a Veteran’s Wall in the hallway outside the media center. Please send in a picture or a color photocopy of your veteran as well as name and we will add to our Collage of Pride. The students are learning about patriotism, honor, courage, pride, civic duty, sacrifice and integrity. If we can get this right, it will be a beautiful work of art to signify our basic core of learning at our school. All welcome to participate…Please! ❤ This will be an ongoing work of art… The Northport Veteran’s Wall is growing and influencing our young students on significant core values daily.
Northport students across the grade levels are preparing for Student Led Conference Night. Everyone is very excited to share their learning and progress with their families. Students are learning if goals are specific, measureable, achieveable, reasonable and timed. Pictured are students from Tiffany Tredor’s class working on Smart Goals.
