Students participated in a Unified Track Meet at Lawnwood Stadium in Fort Pierce on Thursday to compete in track and field events including the 4×100 meter relay, 4×400 meter relay, 100 meter dash, and softball toss.

St. Lucie Public Schools proudly celebrates its 26 schools that were recently recognized as Five Star Schools in recognition of their community service.
The Five Star School Award was created by the Commissioner’s Community Involvement Council and is presented annually to those schools that have shown evidence of exemplary community involvement. In order to earn Five Star School recognition, a school must show documentation that it has achieved 100 percent of the established criteria in the following categories.
- Business partnerships
- Family Involvement
- Student Community Service
- School Advisory Councils
Schools must also earn a grade of “C” or above or improvement rating of “maintaining” or “improving” for the year of nomination.

We thank Stacy Donnelly, our Wellness Manager for helping St. Lucie Public Schools stay focused on healthier habits. At March’s School Board Meeting, Marsha Jaquays, Executive Director for the American Lung Association, presented the Silver Level Award to the School Board and Superintendent E. Wayne Gent on behalf of the Florida Tobacco Cessation Alliance. This award recognizes the overall efforts to help employees break their nicotine addiction and adopt a healthier lifestyle.
*This award is based on the Public Health Services Clinical Practice Guidelines on “Treating Tobacco Use and Dependence.” Florida Tobacco Cessation Alliance has set up an award system for GOLD and SILVER level standards for comprehensive tobacco cessation benefits.
