Port Saint Lucie High School’s JROTC Raider Team traveled to Atlantic High School to compete in a Raider Challenge. The competition consisted of back to back events starting with Rope Bridge and a physical fitness test (PT). During the PT test the team had to complete a total of 500 push-ups, 500 sit-ups, and 85 pull-ups. The rest of the events consisted of a ¾ mile litter carry with 80lbs of weight, move 40 20lb sandbags from one point to another, flip a 350lb tire 100 yards, and finish by running a mile to the finish line. Port Saint Lucie High finished with a time of 29:36 securing the first place win by 46 seconds. It was a tough course but our raiders did an amazing job.

Sontavia Lynn, Theresa Reilly, Faith Harrell, MaKayla Gierke, and Kajshae Holmes; Back Row: Seirra Sanchez, Eniyah Bowen, De’Aujanae Edwards, Reyanah Burr, Alisia Mendoza, and Kloie Morgan.
They enjoyed a combined rehearsal with students in the Dan McCarty Middle School Chorus thanks to Director Dr. Rolanda Jones on Thursday, September 24. On Friday, they joined all the top chorus students in the area for an all-day rehearsal at IRSC. They rehearsed on Saturday, September 26, and then performed in concert. Everyone enjoyed an evening of beautiful choral music presented by our talented students.
The highlight of the concert was the last number in which the middle school and high school choruses joined their voices for a grand finale! Thanks to a generous donation from Anchor Jewelers and Rare Coins, Forest Grove students will wear matching pearl jewelry sets. Thank you for your support of the new Forest Grove Middle School Chorus Program under the direction of Mrs. Kathy Osking.
The 5th graders at Mariposa Elementary in Ms. Kathy Guntow’s class are investigating the proper use of scientific tools. The students rotate through stations that measure volume, mass, length, time, and temperature. They also explore how to use microscopes and hand lenses to complete their science measurement tools activity. Toni Serra, Dylan Baugh, and Crystal Headley are cooperatively working with a classroom scale.
Ms. Brenda Hoskin from Southeastern Guide Dogs visited Frances K. Sweet third graders after they read Saving Buster, Aero & Officer Mike, and Good Dogs, Guide Dogs. Ms. Hoskins, the handler, brought her guide dog, Molly, and discussed how Molly was trained and what she is responsible for. The boys and girls were quite intrigued!
