Robert Bacchus Jr. Named Gates Millennium Scholar

Robert was recently named a 2014 Gates Millennium Scholar, a highly prestigious scholarship award funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation that covers Robert’s expenses for his undergraduate, master’s and graduate studies. Robert was among 1,000 students chosen from a pool of 52,000, making this years decision one of the most competitive in the programs history.

Robert is Valedictorian of his high school class, and expects to graduate with both his AA degree from Indian River State College and IB Diploma from Lincoln Park. He is a multidimensional student with interests in music, service, and science.

Local Author Presents His Story to SLWCHS

Students at Centennial High School had the unique opportunity to hear about the  Holocaust from an unusual perspective as local author Peter Haase spoke on Friday, May 5.

10th, 11th, and 12th grade English students were privileged to attend a presentation by Mr. Haase, President of the Treasure Coast Writers’ Guild, who spoke  about growing up under the Nazi regime, being forced to join the Hitler Youth, and the devastation to Germany caused by Hitler’s years in power.
