Northport K-8 kindergartners dazzled parents, grandparents, administrators and guests as they read from a fluency showcase of reading skills. Students dressed for their parts such as the lion, the skateboarder, the cat, the frog, the dreamer and the bug and used a microphone to show off their reading fluency skills in a readers theater program. The school’s media center was filled with parents, grandparents and guests as the students blended different story lines to make one great student showcase of reading skills. Northport K-8 PTO celebrated the students’ accomplishments for the school year by holding a Fun Run. Over 100 runners, their families and teachers from Northport K-8 participated in a run, a bounce house, a rock climbing wall and a dinner together after school recently. Students picked up their 2012 yearbooks and had their teachers sign at the party, then enjoyed some time with their friends during the Fun Run and Yearbook signing party. It was a wonderfully unifying event and the PTO declared it a success!
