Making Music at Oak Hammock K-8

Oak Hammock K-8 6th grade virtual band students’ final project for the year taps into their creativity and ingenuity. Students were asked to create their own musical instruments from household items such as jars, cups, bowls and pots.  The students filled their items of choice with smaller objects to create different pitches, rhythms and dynamics. Biotechnology Virtual Lab with Keiser University

The Industrial Biotechnology program (Mr. John Williams’ students) at Treasure Coast High School (TCHS) collaborated with Keiser University’s Biotechnology department.  This virtual lab session was led by Dr. Weir of Keiser University to provide a simulated lab experience for the TCHS students preparing for their Biotechnician Assistant industry certification exam.

Virtual Math Scavenger Hunt at CAST

Ms. Voke’s virtual 3rd grade class from CAST explored ways to find examples of math outside the actual math book.  They used magazines, newspapers, ads from the mail and any other resource they had in their home to complete a scavenger hunt of pictures of “math items.”  They created their template from folded paper and copied the items to be placed on the scavenger hunt page.  Some items for their search included examples of a bar graph, an analog clock, a quadrilateral, a fraction, and an item used to measure liquid or mass. CAST & Project Lead the Way

Kindergarteners and first graders at CAST worked through a Project Lead the Way project during Stop & STEAM week. Students learned first about the structure and function of our body and different body parts such as the heart, lungs, and stomach. Students examined bones closer by recreating an X-ray image. Then they designed a cast to protect a broken bone that was strong, light, comfortable and water resistant.

Sam Gaines Academy Kinder Kites

At Samuel Gaines Academy of Emerging Technologies, Kindergarten is celebrating the last days of this school year by popping a balloon a day. Inside each balloon is a STEM activity. Today, Kindergarten students made a kite out of a paper bag and went outside to fly them.

Port St. Lucie High Hosts 3D Printed Car Races

Port St. Lucie High School’s Technical Design Program and Preapprenticeship students hosted 3D Printed Car Races. Students designed, tested, 3D printed, and raced their cars in the gym!  Mr. Picchiarini and his Tech Design students not only entertained but recruited students into the Technical Design classes.  Level Up CTE!

Jazzy Jags Takes Lunch to Paris

Port St Lucie High’s Culinary Program students and Chef Foerster took lunch to Paris!  Students in the Jazzy Jags Café prepped, cooked, and served delicious lunches Parisienne Style; Croque Monsieur with baked ham, Gruyere cheese and dijon on brioche slices browned until the cheese melted served with Salad Orientale, and Pommes Frites (French Fries!).  Delicious!  Level Up CTE!

Cobra Track and Field Win 1st Place and Break School Records!

Way To Go Cobra Track & Field! Congrats to the Coach Wilder and the ladies 4×4 relay team, for winning 1st place at regionals and breaking the school record.  The 4×4 consists of Rachelle Williams, Auhmya Wilder, Kiana Vreene and Brianna Clayton. A Cobra congratulations to Brianna Clayton, who also won 1st in the 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash as well as breaking a school record.  Wow, ninth grader Nakayia Wilder also broke the school record in discus!  These student-athletes have all advanced to States next week!!! Fairlawn Cleans Up & Appreciates Staff

In honor of Earth Day, Fairlawn’s Student Council worked Saturday, April 24th to beautify the school grounds by picking up trash around campus.  The students ended their morning with creating a small token of appreciation for Fairlawn’s staff by planting individual plants for each staff member.  Student Council would like to thank our supportive parents that made this day a success and JBR Exteriors for purchasing the supplies necessary for the Staff Appreciation gifts.

Discovering the Butterfly Life Cycle at Oak Hammock K-8

The students in Ms. Quinn’s K-5 ESE class, at Oak Hammock K- 8, learned about the life cycle of the butterfly. After exploring the butterfly garden on campus, the class watched as their caterpillars became chrysalides. Students created models of the butterfly life cycle with pasta and made predictions about the color of their butterflies. The class has been patiently waiting and watching the chrysalides metamorphosis into butterflies to determine which of them made the correct color prediction.

FPC Beach Volleyball

Central’s Beach Volleyball Makes a First Appearance in State Tournament! Congratulations to the Cobra Beach Volleyball team who competed in the Florida High School Beach Volleyball State Championships this past Friday and Saturday in Tavares!  Players include Presley Murray, Kendra Brown, Riley Wyatt, Maya Chase, Kailani Zezas, Kaleigh Becton, Kadiann Perry, Katie-Rose Wohlbold, Delaney Bolbach, and Lauren Woolley with Coach Quigley leading all the way! Nittiya Boyce Shines in the “Inlet 100th Anniversary Student Art Contest”

Lincoln Park Academy student, Nittiya Boyce, 7th grade, placed third in the “Inlet 100th Anniversary Student Art Contest”. The contest was sponsored by the Fort Pierce Lions Club. They were inspired to hold a contest to celebrate the inlet because children are the future keepers of our environment. They hope that this celebration will motivate students to be good stewards of our environment including our waterways and local sea life. WEST Prep Leadership Students Begin a New Senior Tradition

Student Government and Student Council planned, organized and executed a field day event for the senior class of 2021. Students groups were paired with other teams to compete in activities that included relay races, obstacle courses, tug-o-war, and kickball games. Students were also competing against a Faculty and Staff team for a chance to win the overall field day. In the end, the Faculty and Staff team WON but the seniors put up a great fight!
