Rewind & Be Kind: Deans’ Incentive Reward at Oak Hammock K-8

Students at Oak Hammock K-8 are learning to make good choices that can be rewarding. Each month, one student from each grade, who has not received a BIR or referral for the month, is randomly selected to receive a gift bag from the Dean’s office. Congratulations to the students of Oak Hammock who do the right thing. We are watching and catching you at your best!

Freedom Week at CAST

Ms. Edwards’ Eighth Grade U.S. History class celebrated Freedom Week! Students learned about the purpose of the Declaration of Independence and why it was important. In addition, students analyzed the preamble to the Declaration of Independence and discussed how it still applies to us in everyday life. They ended the week with creating “resumes” for different signers of the Declaration of Independence. They had an awesome time!

Palm Pointe Artists Working Together

Palm Pointe artists studied the sculptural techniques of Chris Mason and learned about proportion and movement to create their uplifting designs. Using only wire and their hands, artists created climbing figures that symbolize working together to reach a goal.

FPCH Automotive Students Tour UTI and MMI Orlando

Students in the Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair program at Fort Pierce Central High School went on a Field Trip to the Universal Technical Institute (UTI) and Motorcycle Mechanic Institute (MMI) locations in Orlando. The students toured the automotive, marine, diesel, and motorcycle programs. They showed genuine interest, asked many questions, and a couple of students plan to enroll in the automotive program.

Weatherbee Tracks Fluency with Turkey Trot

                      Students at Weatherbee are tracking their fluency in reading and math in a Turkey Trot. Every week children earn a feather to decorate when they meet their goal for each subject. At the end of the challenge, there will be an obstacle course to celebrate!                                    

Oak Hammock K-8 Second Grade Students Discovery of Biomes

Oak Hammock second grade classes had lots of fun exploring the different biomes. Students learned important facts about their favorite animals by engaging in research activities to recreate the animal’s habitat, identify the specific community of vegetation and wildlife. The students created their own habitat at home as a family project and wrote an informational piece in class based upon their research.  All students had the opportunity to present, explore and learn about the habitat of many different animals. Second grade, your teachers and the Osprey family are very proud of you!

Cobra Spirit

FPC Spirit Fridays! Fort Pierce Central, home of the Cobras, has spirit and it shows! Fridays, in Cobra Nation, are filled with purple and gold pride! From administration, to faculty, staff, and students, pride makes the difference! Having all students back on campus creates community togetherness and promotes our shared commitment to excellence. Cobra pride doesn’t just wait until Fridays. Students are welcomed into an atmosphere of high expectations with role models demonstrating integrity, respect, and professionalism. At FPC, pride makes the difference and every Cobra shows it!

Nittiya Boyce’s Winning Artwork Displayed at Manatee Observation Center

Lincoln Park Academy student, Nittiya Boyce, 8th grade, placed third in the “Inlet 100th Anniversary Student Art Contest.” The contest was sponsored by the Fort Pierce Lions Club. They were inspired to hold a contest to celebrate the inlet because children are the future keepers of our environment. Nittiya’s artwork is now on display at the Manatee Observation and Education Center. She won a $50 Visa gift card, ribbon, and certificate for her talent and creativity. Constitution Day at SGAET

SGAET Fourth graders culminated their unit on the U.S. Government by welcoming our very own Military Mom, Ms. Patterson, as a guest speaker on Constitution Day! Students gained insight and celebrated with great pride through Nearpod, trivia, and more patriotic fun and games.

Bayshore Elementary Receives $5,000 Donation from New Burlington Store

Bayshore receives a $5,000 donation from the new Burlington store! Burlington Stores, the national discount retailer, through its partnership with the national non-profit organization, AdoptAClassroom.org, has donated $5,000 towards school supplies to Bayshore Elementary in celebration of its new store now open in Tradition. A representative from AdoptAClassroom.org contacted the district Communications Office who helped to secure the donation for Bayshore Elementary which will provide $142 in new supplies for each teacher’s classroom. St. Lucie Experts Present at FAEDS

Two experts from St. Lucie Public Schools recently presented at the FAEDS (Florida Association of Educational Data Systems) Conference. Julia Hilburn presented on Microsoft Bookings and Calendar-based logs.  The session was extremely successful. Microsoft was overly proud and shared the information with the SLPS District Representative. Other school districts from across Florida asked if Julia could partner with them to share ideas. CAST Animal Adaptations

Third Grade students at CAST learned how animals adapt to their environments to survive. After researching many different types of adaptations, they completed a science task card activity. Students then created their own animals to blend in with their classroom environment using camouflage.

PBIS is Poppin’ at CAST!

Creative Arts Academy students used their CAST cash to participate in their first PBIS event. Students enjoyed outdoor games, popcorn, and spinning the Wheel of Fortune for prizes!

Girls on the Run at Oak Hammock K-8

Girls on the Run (GOTR) is so much fun at Oak Hammock K-8! Coach Nancy Branim and Coach Amber Martin are proud of the 3rd-5th grade students that are learning and practicing healthy habits, developing positive relationships, and becoming stronger. The GOTR group meet twice a week to participate in lessons to lead healthy and balanced lives while practicing for the season finale 5K in November. Our star-powered GOTR team that make us proud are Aaliyah Jackson, Alannah Silva, Alyssa Martinez, Arianna Martin, Brielle McNamara, Janiyah Talabert, Kamila Gamez-Luna, Mia Gomez, and Natalia Gamez-Luna. #GOTR

St. Lucie Public Schools Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

First Lady Casey DeSantis announced that the theme for Hispanic Heritage Month will be “Celebrating Hispanic-American Community Leaders and Champions” and released information regarding the student art and essay contests and Excellence in Education awards. Hispanic Heritage Month is recognized and celebrated in the United States from September 15 to October 15. SLPS Expands COVID-19 Testing Sites in Partnership with Allied Health

In an effort to provide easy access for employees, students, and their families to COVID-19 tests, St. Lucie Public Schools has partnered with Allied Health to offer both PCR and Rapid tests free of charge.  Currently, there are four locations open Monday through Friday at Manatee Academy, Fort Pierce Central High School, Port St. Lucie High School, and Lincoln Park Academy. In order to return healthy students to school as soon as possible,  asymptomatic students who have been quarantined for exposure at school can return to school on day 5 of their quarantine with a negative PCR or rapid test. … Read More
