Comcast’s “Internet Essentials” is geared to those who have at least one child that receives free school lunches through the National School Lunch Program. Other criteria include being located where Comcast offers Internet service. This Sign-Up Event is for families that do not have Comcast services or have not subscribed to Comcast Internet Service in the last 90 days. Village Green Elementary School’s PBIS Committee hosted a Neon Dance for students and their families on Friday evening. Students who met PBIS expectations for the 3rd quarter enjoyed a dance party complete with DJ T&T, black lights, face painting and yummy snacks! Students Embrace Arts In Our Schools Month with Arts Week at White City Elementary

Students commenced Arts In Our Schools Month with our second annual Arts Week! They competed in grade-level activities that included art scavenger hunts, chalk murals, spray paint relays, and cardboard architecture competitions. Music-filled lunches, bubble watercolor painting, and printmaking activities stamped creativity everywhere! It was a whirlwind of expression and excitement!

Have you heard the latest news chirping about our campus? Mrs. Eibl’s second-grade class has welcomed the newest student to their learning cottage—Chick 1! Mrs. Eibl’s class has been working with the 4H program to hatch chicks. The students were very excited to welcome baby chick #1 and can’t wait for the others to hatch.

The Jaguar Battalion Takeover

FGMS Wax Museum for Black History Month

Forest Grove Middle School students participated in their annual Black History Wax Museum. They showed their creative personalities as they studied and highlighted important contributions made to our country by the influential Black Americans they represented. Students created a visual display, dressed as their characters, and gave speeches highlighting their achievements.   

McKinney Vento in the Community

McKinney Vento Case Manager, Dieucica Times, took part in the Black Health Panel to show support for National Black HIV/AIDS Day. During the event, she shared valuable insights about the McKinney Vento program’s eligibility criteria and the assistance it provides to our SLPS families. With her wealth of experience and expertise in working with this demographic, Dieucica effortlessly blended her two backgrounds, adding an impactful and memorable element to the event.

FPC Key Club Sweeps Black History Month Creative Arts & Essay Contest

In Celebration of Black History Month, the Judges of the United States District Court for the Southern District Court of Florida sponsored the creative arts and essay contest. Fort Pierce Central High School Key Club members attended the event. Eddison Petion won Honorable Mention for his artwork and essay while Chaynna Thompson won Honorable Mention for her poem. Congrats to our FPC Cobras for their hard work.

Reading Under the Stars

More than one hundred families from Floresta Elementary participated in the Reading Under the Stars Literacy Night, where they acquired valuable literacy skills and strategies that can easily be implemented at home to cultivate a passion for reading.

Palm Pointe NJHS Peanut Butter Drive

Palm Pointe NJHS members helped to collect jars of peanut butter for the Port St. Lucie Sunset Rotary Club. These donated jars of peanut butter are placed in Grace Packs with additional nonperishable food items and distributed to local food-insecure children at the end of each school week. The Port St. Lucie Sunset Rotary partners with Grace Packs, Inc. who currently have 790 students on the roster receiving these Grace Packs.

Student Council Making a Difference

The student council at Morningside Elementary is making a huge impact on their environment. These conscientious bluejays did some spring cleaning around the playground. Students collected 6 bags of garbage and 1 bag of belongings from around the school. These young leaders understand the importance of helping out and lending a hand. Way to go bluejays!

TCHS AFJROTC The Bataan Death March

The Bataan Death March was the forcible transfer by the Imperial Japanese Army of 75,000 American and Filipino prisoners of war (POW) from the municipalities of Bagac and Mariveles on the Bataan Peninsula to Camp O’Donnell via San Fernando. To honor our American and allied POWs, our cadets march 14 miles every year. Here are a few pictures of this years march we held this past weekend. Titan Born, Titan Bred!

Culinary Students Win Awards at ProStart to Culminate CTE Month

Culinary Arts High School students from across St. Lucie Public Schools competed at Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association Education Foundation (FRLAEF) ProStart competitions in Orlando, Florida, and came out winners! Their accomplishments deserve celebration! Congratulations to: Fort Pierce Central High: Nicholas Leonardi-third for ProStart Edible Centerpiece, fruit carving, Aristhene Thelisnort-FRLAEF $2,000 college scholarship, Jerimiah Telusma-FRLAEF $2,000 college scholarship, and Aristhene Thelisnort-ProStart Hospitality Excellence recipient. Shark Nation was well-represented at this year’s STEM Fair. Ten students were invited to showcase their projects during the event. Students had to explain their reasoning behind their projects to judges. While at Indian River State College, they had the opportunity to visit the Robotics and EMT labs. SLPS Career Fair

The South County Career Fair was held on February 27th at the MIDFLorida Event Center.  Approximately 400 juniors and seniors from Mosaic Digital Academy, Port St. Lucie High, SLW Centennial, and Treasure Coast High were in attendance.  Students were able to meet and chat with company representatives, ask questions about their company and careers, interview, and possibly land internships.  The goal was to expose students to the companies and businesses in St. Lucie County, provide them with the opportunity to learn and explore specific industries, gain the confidence needed to approach adults and start conversations, interview, and practice soft skills.  The … Read More
