Media Arts students created their own Star Wars-themed Morning Announcements by using various techniques they’ve learned, such as camera operation, presenting, audio engineering, and production lighting. Lawnwood Leopards Participated in a Recycle Project

Third grade students from Mrs. Morris’ class and Mrs. Wright’s are helping the earth. Crayons are a petroleum product that takes many years to biodegrade. Lawnwood leopards recycled old and broken crayons. Students sorted and shipped the crayons to the National Crayon Recycle Program. Our students are keeping unwanted crayons from going into landfills. These crayons will be recycled and reused by more students. WAY TO GO!

Treasure Coast High Hosts UTI-Universal Technical Institute

Treasure Coast High hosted Universal Technical Institute (UTI) who arrived with performance machines! UTI spoke to students in the Engineering and Manufacturing CTE programs about continuing their education and training in the automotive field. Students respected the mustangs!

Mariposa Elementary VPK Learns About Butterflies and Insects

Mrs. Bonilla’s VPK students at Mariposa Elementary have begun their second week of insect learning. They learned about characteristics, identifying different types, what makes them special, and insect body parts. The students used an Insect Checklist to help them learn these skills. Each day the students focused on one insect and used visuals and technology to further their learning. The students also listened to insect stories during storytime. They wrote sentences that described each insect while practicing correct sentence structure. PSLHS Nursing Assistant Students Recognized

Port St. Lucie High School’s Nursing Assistant students were recognized for their success in earning their industry certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant. During the recognition ceremony, current educator Jacklyn Cebelak honored the students with a Tiki celebration.

Fort Pierce Central Hosts Education Foundation Annual Scholarship Ceremony

Principal Monarae Miller-Buchanan and Assistant Principal Ayesia Boria were the Masters of Ceremony for the 2022 Annual Scholarship Ceremony sponsored by the Education Foundation. The Education Foundation awarded 60 scholarships funded by 20 donors totaling $58,000. Many scholarships were funded in memory of school district-affiliated individuals, including Aaron Beauchamp, Harry Lee Williams, Kimberly Pearson, Tess & Abbey Huber, Andrew Schmeer, and Daniel Hinojosa. Gaines Academy Student-Led Conferences

Samuel S. Gaines Academy of Emerging Technologies fourth graders and eighth graders recently exchanged success stories, personal challenges, and encouragement as they discussed their grade group’s journey through 2021-2022. Students and their older peers reflected on their individual data and offered each other good advice for the future. Shine on, Colts!

Earth Day Activity at Lawnwood Elementary School

The second grade students of Lawnwood Elementary are cleaning up the environment. Students participated in a campus clean-up project and properly disposed of the trash. Lawnwood Leopards are cleaning up the campus and taking care of the earth.

Gaines Academy FSA Escape Room

Samuel S. Gaines Academy of Emerging Technologies eighth graders prepared for the state science assessment by finding the keys to success and the keys to the door of their classroom. Mr. Nicks’ eighth grade science students successfully found their way out of their FSA escape room challenge. Tasked with decoding cyphers, problem solving, and testing their middle school science knowledge; the students worked as a team and found the keys needed to exit the science room.

Village Green Students Attend Fun Run and Safety Festival

Village Green Environmental Studies School was proud to participate in a Fun Run to benefit St. Lucie County Public Schools and the Education Foundation on Saturday, April 30th. We had over 90 students participate in weekly practice leading up to the event with 71 registered for the event. We are proud of the students and their families that attended! A special thank you goes out to Coach Copeland and Coach Saadah for taking on this venture for our school.

CAST Celebrates Earth Day!

Fifth graders in Ms. Broderick & Mrs. Church’s class researched what companies can do to help the environment, wrote about what they can do at home and at school, and then brainstormed what they think the Earth will look like in 30 years to celebrate Earth Day! 

Culinary Arts at Cinco de Mayo Feast

St. Lucie Public School Culinary Arts students cooked at Cinco de Mayo festivities. Culinary students from St. Lucie West Centennial High and Port St. Lucie High Preapprenticeship along with their teachers Chef Chris Gedke-Balachak and Chef Roland Foerster were the highlight at the Monarch Country Club’s Cinco de Mayo event. Student’s dishes included elote (fresh grilled corn with cotija cheese and cilantro), carne asada with pico de gallo and salsa de queso, sayulita shrimp, homemade corn tortillas with slow-braised shredded pork, homemade guacamole cups, sopa de frijol negro, salsa verde, tomatillo salsa, churros with fresas con crema, and agua fres … Read More

CAST Creates Junk-Bots

Third grade students made junk-bots! They used materials they were going to recycle at home and then up-cycled them to build creative robots. They designed their plan, wrote out their steps, and named their creations! 

Southport Middle School Service Projects of the Month

Once a month, each of the grade level teams at Southport Middle School selects a special service project that benefits the community as students learn about the importance of volunteerism. Most recently, the seventh grade Panthers’ service projects had students learning about the basics of gardening and they spent the day beautifying the school campus by pulling weeds and planting new shrubs. The eighth grade Gators collected items and provided backpacks for the homeless that included non-perishable foods and other necessities like blankets, clothing, and various utensils.
