Performance Based Academy Creative Science Lab

Mrs. Menezes’s Science students at Performance Based Academy recently participated in a lab project that combined their science knowledge and creative skills. The goal of the project was to reinforce their understanding of the diversity of Florida’s Everglades, and how different animal species adapt to different ecosystems. Students enjoyed the hands-on activity and were able to incorporate their creative and imaginative skills to create clay creatures that inhabit the Everglades. Congrats to Mr. Wilks for being selected as an Applebee’s Above & “Bee-Yond” Teacher! Students wrote essays about the impact of his teaching. He was awarded a $500 check for his classroom. We are so proud of you!

FPWA MOA Hosts Bon Voyage Night

The Marine and Oceanographic Academy held their annual Bon Voyage Senior Night at The Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute! The Senior class celebrated one another and all their accomplishments. They were awarded their graduation cords, superlatives, and shared a beautiful slide show. The students showed their gratitude to Deputy Pate by making her an honorary lifetime MOA member, complete with an autographed life jacket. The Senior class also continued their tradition by passing down the MOA Paddle to the rising seniors.  

LPA Holds Incoming 9th Grade IB Breakfast

On May 16th , Lincoln Park Academy hosted its first incoming 9th grade IB Student Breakfast! Current 8th graders at LPA who are entering into the IB program in the 2023-2024 school year were invited to attend a welcome breakfast. Students spent time with upperclassman IB students having breakfast, talking about the IB program, and socializing with one another. LPA looks to the incoming new IB cohort, graduating class of 2027!

FPWA JROTC Students Volunteer at Navy Seal K9 Event

Cadets from the Fort Pierce Westwood Academy JROTC Program participated in a charity fundraiser event in conjunction with the Fort Pierce Navy SEAL Museum and the Fort Pierce Chapter of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Club to assist with raising money for the Navy SEAL K9 Project. The initiative helps past and present Special Operations Service Members get specially-trained service dogs to assist them with PTSD, Combat-Related Anxiety, and other types of emotional stress related to military service. 80 participants rode over 200 miles across 4 counties, raising over $4000 for the charity. FPC Culinary Dazzles Democratic Club of SLC

Fort Pierce Central High School Culinary Cobras catered and served at the annual fundraising event for the Democratic Club of SLC on May 6th at the River Walk in Fort Pierce. The goal of the event was to support and promote voter registration and the right of all St. Lucie County citizens, no matter race, background, or political affiliation, to vote in county, state, and national elections. LPA Track and Field Athlete Excels at the State Championships

Congratulations to Alexandra Watson for placing 2nd in the Girls Long Jump at the 2023 FHSAA State Track & Field Championships in the 2A classification.  She jumped 5.55 meters (18ft. 2.5 inches) which is her all-time career best.  She entered the meet ranked 5th among the other competitors.

Lawnwood Leopards use their mathematical thinking and reasoning skills as they collaborate during math instruction. Mrs. Ferrara-Slater’s fourth grade Math AMP Students (Accelerated Math Program) justify their results by explaining their method for solving math problems. Students are also encouraged to analyze the mathematical thinking of others. GO LEOPARDS!

One Voyage Ends, Another Begins The former Fort Pierce Post Office at 500 Orange Avenue turned event venue and hosted the annual Fort Pierce Central High School Band Banquet. Cobra students and their families gathered for a night to remember. This year’s theme was a Voyage’s End, a fitting tribute to a sojourn on a trip of a lifetime. The performing arts instill a greater sense of self in student musicians. The Marching Cobras, Concert Band, and Jazz Ensembles are a school’s version of a home-away-from-home. On Saturday, May 13th, The Port Saint Lucie High School JROTC Jaguar Battalion hosted their annual Field Day. All four Companies competed in a series of athletic events including: Tug of War, Jag Ball, Soccer, Capture the Guidon, Kickball, Dodgeball, Volleyball, and Basketball. Cadets were given a competitive opportunity to showcase their skills against other companies. After all the events, the Booster Club provided cadets with a big meal to congratulate them on their efforts. FPC’s P R I S M The Fort Pierce Central High School concert band capped off an amazing season and another outstanding year under the direction of Mr. Joshua Daniels. The Spring Show PRISM was a non-stop music experience! Different from other shows, this concert featured a majority of student-led selections. National Honor Society Inductions of new members are important to all organizations. Members make the difference. Since 1921, NHS thrives in leadership, character, service, and scholarship.
