Third-grade Students at White City Elementary School Showcase Their Learning Achievements

White City Elementary third-grade students have been very busy; Mrs. Reid’s and Pizzarello’s math classes were fully engrossed in learning to demonstrate geometric concepts through body signals. Mrs. Sharpe’s class is learning about plant absorption through the celery experiment. Ms. Thompson’s class is busy editing tasks using their newly acquired grammar and writing skills.  Ms. Drawdy’s class proudly shows off their trophy for having the highest proficiency rate on their ELA unit assessment.

SLW Centennial’s Navy JROTC Competes in Cooper City Brain Brawl

  The SLW Centennial High School’s Navy JROTC “Black Talon” Company’s Academic Team Traveled to Cooper City, Florida, on Saturday, October 14th, 2023 to participate in the Cooper City Brain Brawl hosted by the Cooper City High School’s NJROTC. The Academic Team competed with two Teams, Team Alpha and Team Bravo, against 15 others teams from all over the State of Florida. Central Honors Hispanic Heritage Month

Fort Pierce Central’s Sunshine Committee, administrative team, ELL & ESOL team, and Culinary Department partnered to celebrate Hispanic Heritage in a big way at FPC! Faculty and staff were welcomed to a uniquely themed luncheon featuring traditional Latin foods and some sweet treats too. Decorations lined the walls of pathways weaving through the auditorium proudly displaying flags, authentic attire, and cultural iconography. FPC is a family representing so many vibrant areas from around the world, all coming together to support each student and colleague, every day. The Cobra way is Once a Cobra, Always a Cobra!  

Port St. Lucie High School’s Technical Design Students Meet Architects

Students in Mr. Picchiarini’s Technical Design class met Guest Speaker, Carlos Luis Flores Blancaneaux RA, Project Manager at Spiezle Architectural Group, Inc. The students were engaged in seeing designs turn into buildings. Aline Mar, Architectural Designer at Spiezle Architectural Group, Inc. is an alumnus of Treasure Coast High School and spoke about courses to take, the challenges of the job, studying overseas, and loving architecture.    

SLW Centennial Navy JROTC Performs Color Guard for Treasure Coast Navy League

The SLW Centennial High School’s Navy JROTC “Black Talon” Company performed the Color Guard for the Navy League Treasure Coast Council’s Luncheon on Tuesday, October 17th, 2023, at the Pointe West Country Club in Vero Beach. The Navy League holds monthly luncheons with guest speakers taking about various experiences had while in service to their country. Oak Hammock K8’s Read to Succeed Family Give Back Night at Big Apple Pizza

Big Apple Pizza on Bayshore Blvd was filled as students and parents of Oak Hammock K8 School participated in the Read to Succeed Family Give Back Night. Bookman greeted the students and gave them a free book and reading log to take home. This was a fun-filled night in which students Leveled Up Learning! Leveled up Reading Success! A great time was had by all who participated.                           

A Cobra Farewell

Ms. Maribel Lein, FPC Retirement Upon an average look, it would appear that Fort Pierce Central High School is built like many other schools in our district. Concrete pillars, posts, eaves, roofs, and walking paths line any school but there is something different holding up Fort Pierce Central. Middle school band students from around the district got a first-hand experience of what it takes to play in the bright lights of a Friday night football game on October 6, 2023. These students accompanied Fort Pierce Central High School’s Marching Cobras at Lawnwood Stadium when Central played the Palm Bay Panthers. Port St. Lucie HS JROTC Raiders Team Captures 1st Again

The Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion competed at the Jupiter Raider Meet at Jupiter High School on October 14th. Port St. Lucie HS was amongst 11 schools from across the state of Florida competing. The raider competition consisted of 5 events: a 3-mile team run, 1-mile litter carry, 35-pound kettlebell carry, tire flip, and constructing and crossing a rope bridge. The Jaguar Battalion Mixed team finished 3rd overall, Female team finished 3rd, Male team captured 1st place overall. Lakewood Park 1st Grade Scientists

First graders at Lakewood Park are busy learning about the scientific method, using science journals and collecting artifacts to explore and record their observations. The students used different scientific tools to explore artifacts in nature after going on a nature trail walk around the school. They worked in teams on team building. They then learned to write journal notes about observations. They continued to use science journals to track the growth of two different beans. They made predictions and recorded changes as the plants grew.

Mayor Meets Manatee 3rd Graders!

To celebrate Government Week, Manatee Academy third grade students interacted with our mayor, Mayor Shannon Martin! Our students enjoyed listening to Mayor Martin describe the civic duties of a mayor and the students were excited to ask her questions about these responsibilities! This experience provided our students a connection to our current reading lessons based on the essential question, “Why do people participate in government?” Thank you Mayor Martin for taking the time to provide this valuable experience for our students at Manatee Academy!

SLPS Goes to FAU

SLPS took 33 of our shining seniors to Florida Atlantic University on Monday, October 16th. The students heard directly from admission representatives, received a comprehensive tour of campus, and ate lunch in the FAU Dining Hall. Go Owls! Our next college trip is October 25th and we are headed to Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers.
