LPA Hosts a Scrumptious IB Breakfast

On Monday, October 2, 9-12 IB students gathered for a continental breakfast. IB Student Committee Officers and teachers were introduced, Dr. Herrington spoke, upcoming programs and events were shared, and most importantly, students spent time meeting each other. The importance of the IB community was stressed; IB students need each other throughout their time in high school. Each graduating class can learn from those that preceded it. It was a great time of fellowship with one another.      

Ahoy Parkway Pirates! Our Pirate Trading Post is Now Open!

Parkway Elementary students are getting real-life experience using our Class Dojo token economy system!  Students are “shopping” our Pirate Trading Post during their media resource class, where students spend their dojo points on a variety of prizes.  Students can earn Class Dojo points every day here at Parkway just for demonstrating PBIS school-wide behavior expectations.  

LPA Key Club at the All Villages

LPA Key Club helped unload 1,500 pumpkins at All Villages Presbyterian Church in Port Saint Lucie on October 7th, 2023. Their pumpkins needed to be unloaded and set up as well as the hay that needed to be spread out all around the patch. With all the hard work of the members, 45 members and other volunteers, the pumpkin patch was a success! With all the teamwork, they were able to get it all done in around 3 hours. These pumpkins are now ready to be sold to the public for the fall season thanks to the LPA Key Club!

SLW Centennial HOSA Hosts Blood Drive and Collects 75 Pints of Blood

On Tuesday, October 3, SLW Centennial HOSA hosted a blood drive. The blood drive was a huge success! They were able to collect 75 pints with 11 of them being platelets! Overall, it was a great turnout, especially for the first one in years.  The blood donations will help to save so many lives!!!  Way to go EAGLES!

Fairlawn’s 4th Graders Dig Deep

4th graders at Fairlawn Elementary dug deep into the history of the Ais Indians with a visit from the Children’s Museum of the Treasure Coast! This included trading beads with other “tribes” to make necklaces, creating clay pottery, and uncovering artifacts.

Military Career Exploration at LPA

Lincoln Park school counselor, Aixa Jamison, spearheaded a military exploration day!  Students in the high school section of Lincoln Park Academy had the chance to explore the various career opportunities the military branches have to offer.  Recruiters were able to conduct classroom visits to educate our students on the multitude of professions one can pursue.  The interactive sessions left all seeking more information on the military branches and their high academic service academies.

TCHS Titan Robotics Team

We are so proud of our T.I.T.A.N.S. Robotics team for participating in Robot Build Day at Boca Raton High School. They were able to build the robot and practice for the upcoming competition on November 4th at our school. Titan Born, Titan Bred!

Village Green’s Back To School Luau

Village Green’s PBIS team held a Back to School Luau for students to encourage positive behavior this school year. Students and staff were able to enjoy fun games, music, photo opportunities, and Kona Ice! Everyone had a blast together and we look forward to celebrating positive behavior throughout the school year!      

Parkway Elementary Science Students ENGAGE, EXPLORE, and EXPLAIN with Mr. Lewis!

Mr. Lewis’ Science classes were learning about invertebrates and the five groups of vertebrates. We learned most invertebrates are categorized as Arthropods, meaning segmented or jointed. Students explored once-living specimens, preserved in resin. After getting over the shock of holding an insect, crustacean, myriapod, or arachnid, students were able to identify the specimens using their expository journal notes.    

SLW Centennial NAVY JROTC Visits Kennedy Space Center

  The SLW Centennial NAVY JROTC “Black Talon” Company had a field trip to visit the Kennedy Space Center on Wednesday, September 13th, 2023.  Cadets visited various attractions, including the United States Astronaut Hall of Fame, the Apollo/Saturn 5 Center, and of course the Gift Shop.   Cadets learned the importance of America’s “Race to the Moon” as well as had fun virtually flying the Space Shuttle.  They look forward to visiting again next year!  

Bayshore’s Big Apple Pizza Night

What an amazing turnout for our Read to Succeed book night! Thank you to Big Apple Pizza and our Bayshore Elementary family and friends who came out to support this amazing fundraiser.  

Founding Father’s Day at SLWK8

St. Lucie West K-8’s 4th/5th grade Gifted classes completed a jigsaw activity using the required Social Studies Curriculum on Founding Fathers. Each student had a different founding father that they researched as a group (x4) and then broke out into “teaching groups” where they each spoke to the others in their new group about their assigned historical figure as the expert on the topic. WAY TO GO SHARKS! 

Art Students at Oak Hammock K8 Display Their Artistic Talents

Students at Oak Hammock K8 school Level Up Learning, Level Up Success, as they integrate math and art! In Mrs. Daugherty’s 7th grade Art class, students used their creative skills and imagination to create a masterpiece while incorporating the mathematic skill of measurement into their design. They measured lines and created shapes, forms, textures, values, space, and color, which are the 7 elements of art. These elements are the foundation of art and are a good place to start when making or analyzing works of art.

TCHS Celebrates National Custodian Day

At Treasure Coast High School, it takes all of us to impact student success. On 10/2/23, we celebrated our Food Service and Custodial Staff for National Custodian Day. Bingo for Books at Lawnwood!

Bingo for Books was a blast at Lawnwood Elementary last week! Students and their families played bingo to build their home library collection. Thank you to all of those who came out to participate and make this event a success!
